Given that on current trends the Chinese population is due, by the mid to late 21st Century, to be eclipsed by that of India (where English is very widely spoken thanks to the legacy of a certain colonial power) predictions of the demise of the language may be exaggerated
Its right that India may become the most populated country, they have no restriction on the numbers of their children like China. The point is that China seems to be in better condition to become a wealth country in next century, they have the biggest new market in the world, they have almost no threat of war (compared to many ethnic problems in India or the Cachemire problem with the Pakistan).
And the Chinese governement really want to make China a reckoned and powerful country all over the world, from an economic and technological point of view (they have the most ambitious space program, so unless European and American increase the rythm of advancement, China will be a serious contender in that key sector).
So maybe we will have to talk Chinese if they rule the economical world
, and as Wadidiz said, American will talks mostly spanish
, and as Hotpoint said, maybe Indian will mostly talks English. Anyway at a moment or an another the main language will change.
But there is many chances that we don't see these changes in our life so everythings we said are only assumption, anyway don't forget French
you never know what we will be able to do .
