Has the market died?

I've noticed something in the last few weeks.

Ever since the forum went down for such a length of time, the market for second hand paintball gear of all sorts seems to have taken a complete nose dive with sought after guns (DM6, SL66, 06 XSV etc) as well as older guns just not shifting. The classified section is so much quieter than it used to be with specifically guns not changing hands at the rate at which they had been before the forum going down.

I've wondered if it's because people weren't able to sell things and so do not have the money for new shiny things, or that people realised that they did not need all the things that were being splashed over the forums day in day out. Or is it something else? Has anyone else noticed this flat market?

Strange to think how one forum can have such an impact on the economy of paintball. PGI must be very happy with their influence. (not meant as a negative)

hmmm, cant say i noticed it myself, maybe its because ive continued to buy new shiney stuff :p

i think not being able to host pics as default has made it less attractive but i think peeps will get used to it sooner or later.

Where on earth have you been
The market has taken a nose dive for quite some time now and you've only just noticed?
I believe there are two major influences.
Firstly: "The Ion" ! The cheap cost of these provides a perfectly good tournament marker that suits the novice and pro alike, so why spend more?
Secondly: With tournaments capped at 15bps and velocitys at 300Fps, there hasn't been any major performance improvements that validates spending £1000 on a shiney new marker. You can buy a 5 yr old marker and still compete with the best of them.
I posted a thread when the Ion was introduced, asking what affect it would have on the market, at the time everyone said it wouldn't affect anything................now who's right?:(

I know what u mean Oddjob - ive been watching s1im buy and sell guns for the past 6 months... I think its partly because we're currently mid season... People tend to chop and change their setups at the end/beginning of a season and during it focus their money and effort on actually competing etc..

Also i think its fair to say tht the market in general has gone down hill cos of the ion etc...

I think he means less sales, equipment on the forums rather than prices dropping. Yeah it seems quieter.
Yep that's what I meant, slower market not cheaper. Take a DM6 for sale for £550 by Simon. Now, that's a sought after gun at an amzing price but it's been on the market for almost a month now.

Good point Mr 8 ball. It just felt like it coincided with the forum being down.

Yeah I know what you mean pal, i think it will take a while for people to start going on the forums as much as they used to etc, looking at the number of people online at a time it seems slightly lower than previously though it could just be my imagination.

Are you still trying to shift your DM4 then oddjob?
