There's alot of talk around at the minute about velocity ramping boards... This is absolutely shocking!!!

In the las two events I've been at I've seen two ballers sent to hospital!! Luke from the Kellys at the finals in Campaign and Andy fron Nitro/Just Manc at The pro tour

Now I'm not implying that velocity ramping was involved, I honestly don't think either of the the guns that sent the guys for a trip to A and E were illegal.. But surely that's the point here!!

In both seperate incidents both guys were hit in the head more than once at very close range, received bad concussion and spent the next 48 hours under medical supervision at Accident and Emergency... Luke was completely unconcious when the ambulance showed and Andy was vomiting Blood when he was carried through the hospital doors....

We all have players in the game that we like to shoot up more than others, but,I don't think there's a baller out there that would seriously comprimise the long term health and well being of another baller.. I just don't believe that??

I believe that if velocity ramping were involved in these two unfortunate accidents then this could have been a very different thread altogether..Velocity ramping can gain an advantage in the game but how would you feel winning and then finding out you've killed a guy on the other team... It just aint that important to win!!!

Both the guys I've mentioned are fine now and still playing ball.. We have to make sure that the law on velocity is strict and upheld.. Our sport does not need the bad publicity of injuries, when people already have bad pre-conceptions!!!

I know this is a bit deep for me but its pretty important peeps be aware..
Peace an Love

good to hear they are both alright,
maybe we should reduce the velocity to 280 like some events have across the board.
and more hand held chronies on field,

Agree 100% but beyond that, do you also feel that it's high time that players across ALL leagues were allowed to wear WHATEVER layer of neck and head protection they deem suitable?

It seems ludicrous to me when playing a game where projectiles are fired around the 200mph mark that you can't wear whatever neck and head protection you like.

Sure a boggy helmet won't be deemed fashionable to begin with but as soon as people allow and start to pursue safer headgear (e.g. manufacturers) the sooner they will look better.

As long as the protection is HARD protection, you pretty much CAN wear whatever you want. The problem is that people are putting 47 beanies on and nothing will break on the head. That's why the rules for protection are there. Nobody's going to complain if you wear a crash helmet to play, as it'll only make breaking paint easier.

You can get baseball caps with hard inserts, that maybe, could be implanted into your favourite planet/dye/bunker king cap...would certainly help..lets face it..if it hits your head, its gonna break..so it might as well break on something less painfull/likely to require hospitalisation or a coffin...

those solid baseball caps look amazing. our team captain has to wear one on the building site he's working on and he looks like he should be a catwalk.

Also, his neck muscles are twice as strong as before because they're so frickin heavy...

I reckon providing your wearing some sort of head gear, sandanna, buff, doo rag, crash helmet etc.. The thing is even though luke was wearing a cap, the barrel of the opposition, went under the cap's peak (they were that close).. However Andy had nothing on his head whatsoever??

Its unfortunate this has happened..

The point of this thread however is to highlight that injuries do occur in Paintball, serious injuries, lets not make them worse by inviting them.. Certain people And TEAMS are using software in their guns that could prove fatal... There needs to be adaquate punishment against any player that pushes this boundary.. The rules in paintball tend to be there to make the game fair, but we have to draw the line at velocity... Thats there because of the safety of the players.. A player wiping a hit isn't gonna see the opposing player sucking food through a straw for a month.. High velocity could...

After all you wouldn't go hitting someone over the head with a bottle in a boxing match?!?! Goggles are only designed to be struck by a paintball doing 300fps.. The issues of high velocity cheats could go on forever..

Its just not worth it
