Okay okay not entirely paintball related but i know there will be someone who may be able to help on the boards.

Just got one of those X box subscription kits to play GHTP after the guy assured me thats all il'd need.

Ive spent all day trying to get the damn thing to work! numerous calls to X box live help line and ive had to take a trip down to PC world to get a router.
£80 frekin quid!! so i didnt get it

There must be a way to do this more cheaply and easily
so whats the easiest and cheapest way to get connected so i can become a cyber geek and ignore the realities of having friends in the real world?
I have a broadband connection
PC
X box
ISB modem
Homecall broadband ( bt line)
Tried the PC/xbox shared thingy but that didnt work
so do i have to fork out £80 or can i get a different modem etc
Thanks in advance

:D

You got windows XP?

You'll need a Network Card in your PC, and a cat5 crossover cable (about £10 all together!)

Connect your xbox to the network card on your PC.

Go: Start>Settings>Network Connections

Right click on your broadband connection and click properties. Click on the "Advanced" tab. Click the "Allow other computers.... etc." tick box. Leave the other 2 ticked.

Do you know anything about windows networking? If so, set static IP addresses on both your PC's network card (try 192.168.0.1) and on your xbox (192.168.0.2)

That should work fine :)

another way to do it (if you are on bt) is phone bt broadband up and blag one of thier new modem routers!!
its the voyager 205 it has a usb port to run to the pc then an ethernet port to run to the xbox they only cost £25 (i blagged one cos they ballsed up an order i had with them)
they are recomened by xbox and there is no need for ethernet card on pc its just plug and play.

If any of your microsoft stuff.......... x-box, windows etc..... is "naughty" it's not going to let you near X-box live.
I had to buy the router, but it's great, no need to have the PC on at all once it's all set up. Really good.
Go for the router, easiest solution by far. Plug it, enable modem sharing and it does the rest for you.

You need a valid credit card too though :)

If you go on xboxlive.com it list routers compatable with xbox live and it gives instalation setup advice.

Its better than phoning xbox coz they seem to be all French and you can't understand anything they say

Hope this helps m8
