So if they ban paintball in germany why would anyone what to go there?

I mean if the german touraments bring in a certan amount of money into the area that they are held surely they will lose out.
Also it would affect tourists visiting the area interested in seeing how german paintball sites differ to ones in for example the uk.

Im sure if it does go ahead the goverment will realise there massive mistake and reverse the foolish decision.

but hey thats my opinion.

cheers everyone for translations and stuff- i think us paintbalers should take ourselves and our families to somewher else (havn't thought about where yet) and create our own state. it could even run like the forum heirarchy! then you could export all the nasty people mods!
even though i am not german and i don't have any ties there i know pretty much the same thing would happen in similar countries. sorry to all you german guys and girls, i hope this gets cleared in your favour.

make our own island out of broken pods and use bunkers :D

heard about this on the news earlier, they also plan on banning computer games for the ages 18+ the gory stuff at least.

a government making mistakes, not like thats never happened before:rolleyes:;)

the biggest scenario game in europe is held in germany three times a year.

up to 1600+ players and more hangers on turn up for the 3 days play at Mahlwinkel.

that's a huge loss for the commercial stands that are there, never mind the closing of the site.

banning paintabll in any country is silly. we had to deal with it in the early nineties in scotland, but fortunately they saw sense and lifted it after just a couple of years. scenario paintball (and airsoft) is already falling foul of the UK's VCR legislation, and the wording of that is so vague in places that it could be extended to impact on tourney markers.

germany is aready under a lot of restricitons on paintball, especially as far as scenario goes. all the boys who like their (pointless) toys like torches and laser pointer gadgets can't use them as they are banned as assisting aiming. the legal fps is pretty damn low and markers are (supposed) to be "fixed" in some way to stop the velocity being adjusted above that.

Are you seriously suggesting that a ban on paintball would lead to the collapse of the whole German tourism industry?

Now I could be seriously wrong here, but I am fairly certain that, in any given year, the proportion of people who visit Germany to participate in or spectate at a paintball event is just a tiny fraction of a percentage of the whole number of visitors!

Then again, if they hurry up the ban we can sit around in Bitburg getting pished, bit like Malaga really

Im not saying the whole german tourist industry but it would affect a certain amount of it. Like the business' in the areas where major tournaments are being held would notice a loss in income during the time when tournaments are on.

Before my time but i was told that tourneys were held on US airbases in Germany as the German laws would not apply on US soil, so to speak.

Was i misinformed?

Yes. When they say "US soil", it's more of a friendly agreement unless the US has deeper involvement in the actual laws and policies of the country. If you were somehow born in a US embassy you would not be classed as a US citizen.

Even if this wasn't the case, you would still need to actually get there by travelling through part of Germany with the gun in the first place. Thus still managing to trample over German law on your commute (if markers were illegal)...

Yes. Only US law can be 'flexed' on USAFE bases. For example, the AoC can be brought down to 16 on UK bases - and has been.
