Forum email problems

What with spam emails becoming more prevalent, more strict filters are being used and open mail relays have to be seen to be acting on the spam problem.

What this means is that you get all your penile enhancement emails, without having to sift through all those dumb p8ntballer registration emails :D

OK I will have a chat to my ISP DSVR about the issue, but I believe I have zero spam filtering before it hits my server, as my server has the MX records pointing directly to it and the only filters I have will show up in the logs.

It is possible the new servers IP address has been blackholed and something along the way is blocking it at a lower level, but I collect the mail via POP3 from the same server that received them via SMTP, so I think this is unlikely.

I SPAM filter my mail on my PC so I will see straight away if a message does come in and none have.

Which ip address will the messages be comming from is it the normal 67.19.5.132 address?

Received: from [67.19.5.130] (helo=ace.servermatrix.com)

If you have direct MX push to your server (your domains mx records point straight at your server holding the domain?) then it could be a bad hop? What happens if you try and tracert that IP?

Could be that your mail server is set to check for reverse DNS transversal and the p8nt server does not reply? Long shot but it may be the case.

Failing that whoever your broadbands through could be blocking this type of traffic thinking it is a DOS attack if the IP is in a range that has been banned. I had this at one site where my broadband provider had blocked mail from a range of IPs previously used for spamming?

silly question

Why, if it is my ISP, does it not block the mail coming via pop3 from the yahoo account. But blocks to either my Pipex or Pro-paintball pop3 email addy's?
WHSmiths dialup blocks, as does the gov. intranet

If I traceroute from my home pc which as a Demon supplied home ADSL connection I end up at:
130.67-19-5.reverse.theplanet.com [67.19.5.130]

But I can't check a traceroute from the mail server as the ISP DSVR have removed the command due to some tosser abusing it, which is a real pain as it is also a really usefull command.

Not sure about this one, the server logs the reverse DNS of the sending server, but does not mind if it does not match the handshake name, but beyond that I am not sure, I will ask.

No my broadband is Demon and they have nothing to do with the mail server it is on a completely different network and the interconnect between the two vary depending on the weather.

Must be some kind of black hole between the forums mail server and my mail server.
I will ask DSVR to do a traceroute and see what the results are.

Sorry when I said ISP I was assuming your connection and e-mail are with the same people. If not then it can be the mail relay of the mail provider blocking the e-mail, and nothing at all to do with the ISP but the mail provider. Hence some work and others don't through the same connection method.

I'll contact pipex about the pipex accounts tommorow. The pro-paintball ones I have control over, and the spam filters are disabled my end. Maybe the host service has something running I don't know about!

Can someone help me with this?
