Dude thanks for the support but we didn't play anywhere near our normal standard and thats the truth... there are far too many brits out there sayin this and that about how ref's are but not seein how bad they actually are on the field...

The ref's are always going to make dodgy calls if your on the recieving end... I thought the ref's on the evil field were awesome!!!

I honestly think the Brit teams suffer due to some of the rules they have to abide by in the home tournies, not being anywhere near the rules they encounter when playing in the millenium-series... and vise-versa if a foreign ref is used to playing by a certain set of rules in his/her homeland then they may addopt the rules to their standard at these international events..

Peace and Love:cool:

our standard improved over the 2 days. Granted we only won one game but as it was our first ever tournament we didn't even expect that much. I think a division 4 would have been a good idea to encourage more teams like us to arrive. we gave it out as hard as we could and took some points in each and every game, which for us was a big achievement.

we did have a couple of bad ref calls but at the end of the day i don't think they would have affected the outcome of our games.
generally the reffing was excellent and many thanks to all of those guys for helping to put us at ease.

also a big thankyou to those teams who encouraged us all the way, especially reign of fire, icelanders and jersey warriors.

anyway back to topic, the standard of play was generally very good, and fair which is important too. i feel that it is pointless having divisions if you are going to end up playing as many div2 and 1 teams as you do div 3 teams, but hey, we had a great time anyway.

all of the team just wanted to wish anyone we came in contact with all the best and i am sure we will see you at one or two of the smaller tourneys next year!!!!

best wishes from all at awol ireland!!
Interesting post there Dusty.

There should have been no need for a division 4 if none of the no game playing down pu$$y teams had decided to play the Rookie Division instead of the appropriate one. Division 3 always used to be a "Rookie" division, for teams new to millennium. If the rule had not been changed on entry to this division you may have had a more positive experience.

Beating up on Rookies in the Major League events, just stops them coming back. If they refuse to play Majors they will never get exposed to high quality paintball if they just play Domestic events. The void in quality between the Majors and the domestic series is growing all the time, and success at a domestic level does equate to success at a Millennium level (especially as Ronnie has mentioned the rule sets and what is and isn't acceptable completely different).

If your out of your class in your division, do the appropriate training (a whole other topic), to get better, don't play down or blame everyone else cos your pants.

Anyway, we thought the X ball marshalling was the best we'd had at all the Millennium events this year. Despite the issues with some of the guns, and players really blowing the cr*p out of each other at 20+ bps (like really not on the Angel shot counter), the Open X Marshals we're 100% fair and just.

Had to laugh, Rob and I were watching a game on the evil field, a brit team were playing. There was this guy in the left hand corner who bonus balls some dude walking off, then when his team crumbles and he gets shot he's screamin at the refs claiming it was overkill. Pure class!!!! :D :D

Domestic vs Millenium

For the last three years we have been at the top of the northern UK domestic scene, in them 3 years have trained as a team exactly once!!!!
Played Div 1 [taught us an expensive but valuable lesson] at the weekend exactley as if it was any another uk tourney and got shat upon from somwhere very, very high. Do we winge about judges no (but this one time ......), will we be playin div 2 next year NO.
Have we decided to change our whole approach, train twice a month and sort our **** out YES!!!!

Phoenix & JSManc Well done and we will be playing you both in all the millenium Div 1 finals next year!!!!!

We wouldn't want it any other way the more brit teams representing the better :)

Thanks to all the guys who supported us and cheered us on, we played the dam this year and learn't some things and came to CC ready to play our hearts out, hopefully the results speak for them selves.

also a shout out to Phoenix Russia (not only cause they got a cool name ;) ) but because they were so close behind us all the way finished 4th overall on sat and missed the finals by only a couple of points.

Also thanks to Kristine from FLCharms for the stickers :D
