couple of questions i'd have to ask...

1) is p8ce tournaments sponsored by evil, RPS, tomahawk etc who loan them their fields?

2) does the above attract teams from other countries?

3) Do they own their own fields?

if so then you still can't compare. there are two organisers who own their own fields in the UK and to be fair i'd class them as five man fields more than seven man.

Another point is, maybe they just haven't got the imagination to design really creative fields?

1) I believe p8ce owns the field, they don't loan anything. But I'd have to check.
2) This series only started this season, and they are steadily bringing in more foreign teams. A lot of these are attracted by the radical designs that make for fast and aggressive play, as well as the rest of the set up, which is spot on.
3) See 1.

The fields are supplied to us by our sponsors, Evil/PMI Europe and SupAirball.com
if we or they own them is not relevant.

We have a book of requirement to which we want to live up to, field layout is
extremely important to us when creating a tournament or league.

The time we spend on a symmetrical layout is quite big, a 3 by 3m grid is applied
to the field to assure an even layout.
For this field we also had to work with circles, the cost of chalk is giving us a headache ;)

We run this league to our own standards, luckily there are some people out there who
are willing to support those standards.

Offcourse we can do it cheaper or with less effort and we do not know if our effort will
bring in more teams but we sure as hell know that the participating teams are enjoying
the hell out of it !

in the end it's all about doing your own thing...

p.s. your 3rd question about owning our fields, is this referring to the location ?
if so, we rent the spot on which the league is run on the largest sporting complex in Amsterdam.

Mario, we have played it. The event is definetly well layed out. The fields are precise and extremely well layed out. Yes the fields do make for wicked moves and saw us making them in the first part of the morning 'damn we was on fire'. Marshalls are strict and everything runs smoothly. The only thing missing is more foreign game.

The place is brilliant, the guys/ gals are wicked, everyone is so polite. After the games are out everyone wips out their spliffs and begin puffing :D

Its just so relaxing, and the event is just awesome.
We will definetly be back, if not this year next fo sho!!

Please explain to me why it is possible for a Dutch series, with Holland being so much a smaller market than the UK, to get all this sponsorship done, while at the same time the UK leagues find it hard to get that done...

Is p8ce doing something terribly right, or are others perhaps doing things terribly wrong?

Note that entry fees for p8ce are also kept relatively low.

Also note that even though I know the guys on p8ce pretty well, i am not in cahoots with them in any way. Anyone of them can confirm that I have been pretty critical towards them at times, but it seems they are hitting the nail on the head with this thing. And even though there are some smart cookies involved (stop blushing Markie), the greater number of people involved in the UK must mean that a number of them must be able to come up with similar plans...

Hmm, getting slightly off topic it seems.

hey buddha, i aint trying to defend them in any way. I personally feel that many of them just can't be bothered to get the fields together and thus pull in more teams and thus pull in more sponsors.

Organisers i think over here have got it onto their heads that teams will play anything and the teams dont make it any better by just playing the fields. If they are that bad, then you shouldn't play them. you've payed your money and you deserve better. But no teams have the cajones to walk away over here...
