We went with american airlines and they had the same no bottle policy, but we booked it all in as sporting goods and had the regs removed,by doing this it dismissed the original bottle policy, check to see if your airlines have the same loophole

I've flown the following airlines with no problems:

BA
Virgin
United
Air France
Lufthansa

Just remove the reg from the bottle, pack it up securely in your check in luggage and just keep your trap shut. It should be fine.
