The simple answer is that an 8-field tournament could accomadate around 128 teams, but that would be very tight. It might require a reduction in game-time.

At the World Cup they ran 9 games per field per day in Division X Ball. 9 x 8 fields = 72 games per day x 3 days = 216 games.

Why do you need to enter a qualifying tourny in Euroland anyway?
Here's what we do, we accept that the US audience doesn't give a flying fk how many tournies Nexus has had to win to qualify for the world finals... they just want to see you hammered and hopefully traumatised in the process. So, we go to Richmond along with, say, Ton Tons, RL and AN OTHER, and just do a simple deal. Once the US's best bash each other up, they get thru to the finals against the above.... the English (they'll love it); the Russians (my god they're creaming themselves) and the French (ohhhh glory be). Why risk a tourny where the bleedin Danes might get thru... nobody wants to bash the Danes up.
I'll say once again, stop putting wedge in other people's pockets. Cos they're never going to give you anything back.

With 10 teams it would work out, according to my "different" kind of scheme, to 16 games. A bit relaxed, schedule-wise, but doable.
The 12-team schedule is better, though.

By the way, you never got to answer my question on the other thread , so here it is again :--
Oh and Steve, just to clarify something for me and some others, will you, in your proposed role in the EXL, have any direct dealings with the teams involved and their captains / coaches and if so, please outline what you think your responsibilities are?

Rancid, when I first read your post, I tended to catagorise it with a lot of the ones you normally write where they generally take a sideways look at things, turn it upside down and spank it on the ass.
But then I read it again..........you have some points..unfortunately....especially about the Danes
It seems to be an ironic indictment of our sport that your suggestion makes more sense than what has been proposed thus far........I am now gonna retreat back to the shire and collect my thoughts.......

I didn't answer that, and I won't now, because it is premature. There are some details that need to be worked out before I can say that I've got the job. Beard and I will be talking details within a few days.
Was there anything behind the question, or is it just your journalistic nature?
I certainly would appreciate any input by you or the others involved IF it turns out to be me who gets the job.

'His Majesty'..I am honoured by such sarcasm but as Einstein once said, 'God does not play dice' and therefore would never forbid a total of 10 teams....the world, royalty (and heavens) are against you it seems.
