i presume most if not all of the EXL teams will play in Div 1 Xball US when not at MS events, so who do you honestly see playing this other format? unless this is the only way into the EXL for 2005 i cant see many teams playing it.

I have no idea who will play in it, it's open to all who want to I suppose.
As for the EXL teams playing Divisional XBall Stateside ?
I doubt this at all, I know Sergey is but he also has plans to play NPPL as do we, Magued and Laurent.
As to what the others in the EXL are gonna do, I have no idea, I would think finances and resources will play a big part in their decision but I don't think many are gonna uptake that option.

This means that in 5 years ALL the Pro teams will be playing X-Ball; and then the Amateurs, and so on…right ?

If I understood correctly what you are saying, this could be a big step, basically the end of 7-man games on the MS.
We’re in the presence of history.

Hey Tuk, although the plan is over 5 years, I think if things go right (or wrong, depending upon your view on things) then XBall will be the predominant format in a lot less time than that.
European paintball is poised on a knife edge and definitely leaning toward XBall.....anything can happen......and probably will :)

It all looks good to me, I personally can't wait to give X-Ball format a go.

I think we may see a deminishing number of am/nov or div 3/4 teams if this happens though as many teams will need to start merging / folding to find the number of players.

On a similar topic (forgive me if this has been asked in another thread) but will this also mean a change in game times for the X-Ball format? At the moment we are getting something like 150 teams at millennium events, in order to get through an X-Ball tourney we will need more than the 3 days even if this number drops to 75 per event?

resources required for Xball?

To those of you that have experience with xball:

How are the costs of xball compared to 7 mann?
The paintbill for instance?
How large rooster do you need?

Thanks in advance!

If you are gonna do it seriously, then it is a minimum of three times more expensive for the team but then again, the roster has expanded so the cost is somewhat shared.
In my opinion, you need a roster line up of a minimum of 13 players and be training together at least one day a week.
Individuals need to be doing their own personal training mid week also.
You will also need a paint deal that is in excess of 1.5 million balls.
The training has to be done right with coaches / captains knowing what they are doing and not just going through the motions.
The commitment will be huge both in terms of domestic sacrifice and resources.
Some teams make the right noises when they say wanna play XBall but it remains to be seen who can actually cut it.

rancid

Mother, is that you?
Err, some questions:

1) Not ten minutes ago it was declared that a tourney couldn't be run exclusively for x-ball cos of the time involved and that stoopid scoreboard. How or why has that changed? So, not too far down the road, Campaign will be all x-ball and played by 60-80 teams of 13-20 man rosters and helpers? Am I the only one shaking their head in absolute disbelief?

2) Has tv been signed up now in Euroland, or is it all still nods and winks? I've read thru this and a number of similar threads, and when you get over the five or six reps from pro teams crying or whooping into their beer, you're left with very little else of substance.

3) And why, oh why, are you (Robbo) doing all the fkin running around on this? Why aren't the mill board on here anwering questions? Isn't it about time they fkin paid you for running their company for them? It's a bleedin joke. Good old Robbo, eh. Time to cash in your chips mate.

Will the last european baller please turn out the light.

Hmmmm

C'mon paul everyone SERIOUS in the sport already has deals well in advance of 100 cases+ a week:D

Getting back to reality though if your telling me that in two to three years time 7 man in the millennium will be dead and we're all forced to play X ball...... Well i'm just stunned.

Funnily enough for the rest of the mortal world who still pay to play ball (a horrifying concept i know) X ball would bloody kill me. An increase of squad size by say 50% to 75% at a 300% increase in cost?!?!? The sheer thought of even playing abroad would be out the window let alone playing campaign. Unless the cost of paint halves in the next two years then X ball will die in the lower leagues. Very quickly!

As i and rancid questioned earlier - is there enough time in a weekend to play a full X-Ball tournament for the number of teams / players?

I think we can expect an X-Ball variation which is shorter and thus cheaper certainly for the lower ranks if nothing else. Or the concept will prove too difficult to push out to all levels and 7-man will live on! :)

and how the Xball will increase your bill?
its actually cheaper to play at PSP divisional X ball than millenium 7 man if you have 12 players in the rooster!
the paint bill might increase depending what kind of field or playing stylie you are going.
But good example is looking at going to play portugal and psp worldcup this year, the costa was almost the same even the paint price was higher at cup.
The only catch is to find that big rooster.
