paintball is a sponsor driven sport and therefore once sponsors find that there teams are cheating, they kiss goobye to their spnsorship.
Read the Aftershock interview in PGI a while ago. They REVEL int he fact that, as they said it, "Fistfights happen at our team practices." They also revel in thier cheating reputation. (The ad "Even thought Bruno was out of bounds, it was still a good move.")
Also note that most of the players in the upper end of paintball are also the INDUSTRY people. So many of hte pro players are also industry people who sponsor the events. they don't care.
Image is worthless, it's all about trophies. If you were to tell ANY company that their sponsored team cheats, at best you'll get no reply. At worst, you'll get back "Then cheat better." And nobody will sponsor a team that plays clean, because they aren't winning tournaments. Sorry, argue ALL you want, I am right.
This isn't to mention the "under the table" meetings and deals. this isn't to mention the roll overs, the thrown games, and all that. And before Robbo jumps down my throat, Robbo has said before he turned a team in that ADMITTED to rolling a game to get a sponsorship deal. (Or was it just cold cash? No matter. Ask Robbo, he'll tell you all the gory details...) Granted, it was years ago this happened, but do you REALLY think it's stopped?
My opinion is bleak, because nobody has bothered to demonstrate that it shouldn't be.
