Just read up in the news section about what is to come in this months pgi

The end of the road for some of the pro's with the money running out. Never being at the high a level the question i want to ask is:

Was the money ever there in the first place? or has all the talk made them turn round and go "wait a sec, we aint actualy got as much as we thought".

I know we're gonna get the sarcastic and witty comments as always but i would like some decent answers aswell. Is it all hype and the problems always been there but its only just now getting addressed? or is it really dark times for the "pros" of our sport

discuss please

Staying warm on a sunday!
actually a really great question!
nice one cookie.
and one that can provoke the old brain cells of all ballers in all stages of their game.

there has always been a lot of hype and bullsh!t in pball and more so recently.

with the latest new kicka$$ team going to rip up things left right and centre in every continent. they tend to soon fizzle out!

the trick to any team is to be in it for the long haul and have a cycle within it so that you are constantly getting new blood in and new talent, and also more importantly having a good player base to choose from.
and it takes a lot of time and money from players and a lot of commitment! which is why a lot of teams and players crash and burn and you see so many quitting paintball threads.

so if it is like that at the grass roots of tournament then the pressure at the top must be even higher!

Paintball's just like a big pyramid of playing cards!
You can keep on stacking more and more cards and it looks more and more impressive but sooner or later someone's gonna open the door and the slightest draft will blow the stack down.
The pyramid may look impressive from the outside but until it's base is stuck solidly with glue, it's always gonna run the risk of collapsing....
welcome to paintball's first failure.

poetic lucky....very....

this is what im saying you see. is it all one big illusion and when it comes down to it was it never that great in the first place? was it all just a face that they put on, the good old

"to be succesful one must constantly project an image of success"

and now finnaly someones come along and gone "hold on a minute...u aint got as much as you thought"

on a side note is it that maybe companies are cutting down on sponsorship? if so why?

You touched my heart. :D

Typical Rochester boy :D:p

Edit: But where did the $80K come from, surely sponsorship isn't that much.

Paintball "is" one big illusion, everyone in the game tells you how great it is and everyone believes their own hype.
We spend hundreds for how much "actual competition time"?
All my domestic expenditure has increased so i play less because i can't afford too. I'm not alone here as can be seen by the constant "i'm selling up" threads, so simply put...less paintball being played=less corporate profit=less sponsorship to the pro's. simple:eek:
I've said it before in many threads on here but until paintball gets it's grass routes sorted we are always gonna be in trouble.
If you compare paintball with football.
Football uses the same set of rules from pub level to premiership, thru european championships to the world cup.....where as paintball:(
You all know where the argument goes from there, please just cut and paste your reply from the last lets big me up thread:rolleyes:
