I am writing this with sadness. I am not doing it to get people to tell me how good I am or to have praise, but to let people know that as a tournament organiser, I have just had enough. I can except critiscism, except others have great ideas and use/implement them, but I cannot except the behaviour of a monority of players anymore.
We spent 2 weeks setting up this years STB. I believe 99% of players and spectators had a great time and I would like to thank Steve Bull, Tracy, Andy, Steve Williamson, Neil, Luke, Liam and all my staff for the effort that they put in.
But I also have a business to run. There are a few people who realised Sunday for me was not a good day. To put on a pool for the children only to find that people have filthyed it, left beer bottles in and genarally spoilt what I was trying to do. To have my trainig area covered in paint which has nothing to do with the tournament and is how I make a living. The camping area is like a sess-pit with rubbish all over. Someone also decided at the end to crap on the toilet floor. My wife asks me why do I bother because I am always so upset after an event. This is because I care so much about our sport, the state of the site after every tournament just leaves me upset and despondant.
The stress of running an event is hugh, just ask Niall and Steve. I certainly do not do it for profit. As Doug Setters once said, its just not worth the hassel anymore. Doug used to run fantastic tournaments, but pulled out, due to the actions and lack of respect of the few.
I will hold the Severe Cup in November. I will always honour what I agree to do. However a decision will be made after the event as to whether JCS will be involved in tournaments at Elsham again.
I have spent 14 years promoting my sport. We have had hundreds of different teams play at Elsham. The decision will be yours the players as to whether Elsham runs again after November. Actions speak louder than words.
Respect for my site, its really not that much to ask, or is it.
For all those who do care, I thank you for the fun and laughter you give and the friendship we have.
