I am writing this with sadness. I am not doing it to get people to tell me how good I am or to have praise, but to let people know that as a tournament organiser, I have just had enough. I can except critiscism, except others have great ideas and use/implement them, but I cannot except the behaviour of a monority of players anymore.

We spent 2 weeks setting up this years STB. I believe 99% of players and spectators had a great time and I would like to thank Steve Bull, Tracy, Andy, Steve Williamson, Neil, Luke, Liam and all my staff for the effort that they put in.

But I also have a business to run. There are a few people who realised Sunday for me was not a good day. To put on a pool for the children only to find that people have filthyed it, left beer bottles in and genarally spoilt what I was trying to do. To have my trainig area covered in paint which has nothing to do with the tournament and is how I make a living. The camping area is like a sess-pit with rubbish all over. Someone also decided at the end to crap on the toilet floor. My wife asks me why do I bother because I am always so upset after an event. This is because I care so much about our sport, the state of the site after every tournament just leaves me upset and despondant.

The stress of running an event is hugh, just ask Niall and Steve. I certainly do not do it for profit. As Doug Setters once said, its just not worth the hassel anymore. Doug used to run fantastic tournaments, but pulled out, due to the actions and lack of respect of the few.

I will hold the Severe Cup in November. I will always honour what I agree to do. However a decision will be made after the event as to whether JCS will be involved in tournaments at Elsham again.

I have spent 14 years promoting my sport. We have had hundreds of different teams play at Elsham. The decision will be yours the players as to whether Elsham runs again after November. Actions speak louder than words.

Respect for my site, its really not that much to ask, or is it.

For all those who do care, I thank you for the fun and laughter you give and the friendship we have.

I totally agree with you Jon and Paul. Elsham is a top venue and the tournaments there are always of a high standard. To lose the site, and Jon from the tournament scene will be a great loss for paintball as a whole.

I just hope that you decide to continue to carry on and that people will be more respectful.

Update

Just to throw more petrol on the fire we have just been informed by the marquee company that we will be charged for cleaning the marquees. This is because some players decide the best way to test the paintballs was to throw them at the marquee walls. We have hired marquees for several events and never had a problem until this weekend. It costs over £800 to rent marquees and now we have a cleaning bill.

For all the players (99.5%) who respect the equipment thank you for the less than 0.5% who feel they need to put their mark on an event (vandalism I think the word is!!!) then I hope you have a venue to play in 2004 because because another nail has just been put in the Elsham coffin since Jon posted his thoughts.

:( Jon, i and my other team-mates are saddened about this news, you are a really top fella who has helped our team out from the beginning, with paint and a quality venue to train at any time we wanted.

After all it is all about promoting our sport, and projecting a good image with impeccable standards to not only families but to the media also. Damn it paintball is a hard enough sport to promote globally as it is even with the tourneys we have, we just cant afford to lose ANY events.

So come on guys have a bit of f#*ing respect for Jon and his top crew, lets try and promote british paintball not kill it off

What ever your final desicion is Jon all the ballers who respect what you do will be with u 100% never forget that.

good luck m8tey

Frankly, I am disgusted!

We had a great weekend, and always do at Elsham. It is a great venue for a tournament and it would be a shame to loose it next year.

I dont understand the mentality of some people, as mentioned above its both difficult and stressful to run a tournament, why would anyone want to make it harder?

To all you *people* who found it impossible to resist fouling a CHILDRENS paddling pool, grow up or f?#K off! If any one knows who it was, Name and Shame, then it might not happen again!

Too True Grrr, name and shame is always a good un for this type of thing.

Peer pressure from true ballers who care is the answer, lets weed out all the disrespectfull and down right stupid individuals who obviousley dont care for us or the promotion of the sport.

Come on Jon its obvious there is alot of people who appreciate u and the things u do for paintball in the uk, it'll be a crying shame for a good man to pull the plug on such an awesome event.

NAME AND SHAME THESE FOOLS get rid of them not you!

Chris

As one of the last people to take their tent down on Sunday and as a staunch environmentalist I was saddened to see the amount of rubbish that had been discarded around the field.

I big up to your guys who had the back aching job of clearing the rubbish up.

As will all things it is lack or respect and thoughtlessness that ruins it for all. I truley hope that the next event will change Johns mind and allow the continuation of a truley excellent tourney.

Looking to the future

There is a long list of site owners who used to run tournies who have given up, due to the disrespect teams show to there sites. plus the hassel it is to get money out of teams.

As it is atm we are running out of places to play. Down south we used to play 2 times a month in the leagues and had sites like detling, outer limits, eurosplat, sydicup, mayhem essex, holmbush temple, finmere ;( (if u could call it a site) wicked, pondwood farm, and bullswood. There were many more, but my memory is not the best.

Now we are left with dragoons lair, if it was not for the the m25 there would be virtually no tournies left in the south.

Its not only player conduct, ppl trashing the place with litter and shooting the crap out of everything.

How many players did u all see walking to get air with no barrel sock on ?
How many times did u see players shooting in to the field beside the woods ?
How many teams did John and Bully have to chase up all day to get money out of?
How many players did u see blantently wipe a shot off ?
How many players shoot someone from the dead box?

finally

How many of u are stained with ZAP yes the pink fill that takes 2 weeks to go cuase your skin is permantly stainned. i did not even get hit by any ZAP just crawling on the smartparts field was enough, my knees are stainned pink though my industrial trousers i look an arse in shorts with pink knees at work.

THANK TO ALL THOSE ZAP TEAMS

paintball has a pretty crap image of people loosing eyes and wied men running around in woods.

It is a lot easier to get a bad image then it is to create a good one, a little respect for the sites, site owners, good player conduct and saftey would not be a hard thing for anyone to achieve.

Jon,

I would speak for ALL paintballers that we hope you choose the right thing to do. There is a lethargy within the community as a whole, people feel that the police are the enemy and that to be a criminal is 'cool'.

I feel you are the latest victim of this, I bet every paintballer has went rec balling with people out to have fun, and I bet we have seen them shoot trees, the floor, barricades and even that blade of grass which smiled at them the wrong way! :) The sad part about this is that TOURNEMENT level players do the same!!

There always seems to be a minority who destroy the things we feel good, I think let us have the DECENCY to if we see something happening which we know is wrong, such as the things Jon has outlined lets report then idiots to the organisers. It is quite simple, you walk over to the person and laugh 'hey mate yours mental, what team you play for?' Then when they happily tell you walk and away and think 'F*k you very much mate, lets see who is laughin at your stupidity'!!

Be warned all the idiots out there, I will happily REPORT you to the organisers and I will take fun in doing this, you can call me a 'GRASS' but I ain't I am making sure Paintball is protected from Fools.

The PA Cups is happening this weekend to raise awareness of our sport, my own team is being photgraphed by there local newspaper, and I am playing for a city who's football team I dislike intensely but I want to do this to show the general public what an amazingly fun sport we have.

If idiots want to (try) and be clever then they can play on the M25 and get run over by that nice big truck!!

I will now get off my soap Box.

Needless to say, but Jon , everyone respects your decision, and we will know it will be the right one but dont let the minority ruin the fun you have when you see the majority having fun on your site.

See you all on the field..

Andy
