EGO all the way

- less orings to mess with than SP guns (and the few in egos rarely need changing)

- much easier to tech, and set up - LCD screen is easy to read and use, unlike SP boards which rely on "beeps"

- great support from Planet Eclipse, usually instant reply to PMs and emails from the likes of Jack and Nick

- Smaller, lighter, faster

- Contrast kits so you can look cooler (saving ther best for last there)

if you are interested in this pm me ITS RED:

Love the one sidedness of some of the answers, so here's my view

So you have an Ion
If you are happy with it then the next logical step is to get a Shocker, just a good as the Ego, but you can get one 2nd hand cheaper than an Ego.
When you take into account that the Ion and the Shocker are from the same stable, then you know you are getting something you are familiar with. The only problem with the Nerve is that it really is a waste of money, when new, due to the fact that it wasn't such a significant improvement over the Shocker to warrant the extra cost, though on the 2nd hand market they seem to be going for p-nuts.
Now on the other hand you have the Ego, an exceptionally good marker, but very different to your Ion.
Ignore the bias, yes a lot of the best teams are shooting the Ego, but THE UNDISPUTED BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD still shoot Shockers. Just get yourself to a walk on or a local tournament, ask a couple of the guys if you can try their marker out during lunch and see how each feels. Then all you need to do then is buy the one you feel most comfortable with.

Note 1 -
The difference between the top markers is minimal. The performance difference depends more on the players ability than the marker itself

Note 2 -
My personal choice out of the Shocker, Nerve or Ego, would be the Ego, but i'm not in your position.

Shockers need a lot of care and attention, particularly the bolt orings etc - if not well lubed correctly (not too much not too little) then this can cause headaches.

Out of the box I dont beleive a shocker performs as well as an Ego, not least in the efficiency stakes - requiring an expensive blot replacement to get even near the Ego in that area.

Also the Shocker doesnt come with an LPR - which is pants for many reasons.

Shocker still uses the now outdated reflective eye system

Dont forget top teams (such as Dynasty) will have massive tech support. Part of buying a marker is being able to take care of it yourself - unless you enjoy £40 tech bills and weekends marker-less. this i beleive is easier with the Ego.

Im not saying the shocker is bad - indeed each to their own.
I just think as an all roubnd package and the guys first "proper" top end electro the Ego is the obvious choice

shockers - egos - nah

you're all wrong! buy an Angel! :D Speed 05's go for peanuts now, and they're an absolute steal. Egos are far too expensive, buy a brand new Speed 06 instead and you get a better gun whilst saving about £200

Angels are by far the best build quality - that can't be disputed. You get the best eyes on the market, the best trigger ( can any other gun really match the new magnetic triggers?), the highest theoretical bps - and yes this does matter, because if your gun can cycle at 31 bps, it will run circles around a 15bps limit. And the new Angels are as reliable as they come.

Any takers? :)

they are ok if you dont use brittle paint again used one for the 3man we all used the same paint two of us were using 05 speeds the other an ion. the angels were souping the paint couldnt get a ball to leave the barrell the ion was shootin it fine. dont get me wrong they are a fast marker but then speed aint everything what about acuracy. the thing is that we all have guns that we like or dont like i think at the end of the day its down to the individel to decide on the best marker for themselfs.

I really want to know why these eyes are so good...that they shut down if you get a spec of paint on them cos they are so small?

Best trigger? It wasnt until the latest and greatest that you could even adjust the magnet strength (not possible on an 05 speed)
Ego - magnet fully adjustable. ego6 - magnet and spring fully adjustable.

Best build quality? Perhaps, but an Ego is a very finely crafted marker also. If you want shoddy, say hello to Mr. Ion.

just my other 2 cents
