i had the same problem. Put some kind of lubricant on the feedneck of the egg. (as little as you can get away with)
I used Dow 33 lube, and got the egg fitted with the top oring still in place

I started sanding away and still couldnt get it past the top o-ring, so as lemonade X did removed the top o-ring and twisted it on. After a little more sanding managed to get it on reasonably secure.

I think on the day however it gonna be gaffer taped on, just to be bloody sure, and eventually I will get a q-lock on the Ion, but at least at the moment I feel I am making progress and can attend a day without losing my egg.

Thanks for posts guys.
Ordered myself a Q-Lock so I'll let ya know how much of a difference it makes :)

The reason it falls out is because I can't seem to push it past the first O-ring in the feedneck to make it secure. Got to admit the idea of sanding the hopper neck til it fits seems sound Conion92.

However, would doing something to the feedneck o-rings to make them a bit more flexible be another option?

my mate had the exactley the same problem, he just put a litle bit of oil or vasalene on the feed neck and it went stright in. :)

For testing purposes I found a stock ion feedneck for my project shocker (have bought a twisty one now ), I put my Halo in, and couldn't get it out, tried heating it with a blowtorch, sticking it in the freezer, and strap wrenches. Eventually managed to get it off but never again. Try sanding the feedneck down, or the egg neck.
Don't stick an un-sanded halo in there ;).

u can try cutting the feedneck on the egg down to the exact same height as the ions feedneck so the lip on the eggs feedneck is level with the top of the ions feedneck so the egg is not as tall out of the top of the ion worked for me but i ended up getting a q-lock anyway
