Ease up, there, Loki. Comparing anyone to Nazis is just rude. Unless they are calling themselves the only pure race and commiting genocide.

And anyway, it isn't like we elected Bush, you know. Our 200+ year record of republican democracy failed. Let's see you guys keep a form of government going for 200 years.:p

Hope the Administration lifts those tariffs. I hope the EU doesn't retaliate too harshly. What can you do with Bush at the wheel, other than buckle up and hold on?

I know I am being a bit 'over enthusiastic' in my comparisons, and the reason I am is that in the UK there is a hugh wave of anti-asylum seekers (blame them for all thats wrong, they are stealing our health service, they are not contributing etc etc) and I see comparisons with an event called Krystal nacht (hope thats spelt right).

In the end the US has been told it is acting Illegally, yet still they do it. Also there was a programme on TV stating that within the next 100 years the UK would be 'under snow' and that winters would last 6 months due to global warming. Now the only country which has not signed up to the CO2 restriction act or agreement is the US, which is the biggest producer of CO2. Now is it just me or is that a big V sign to the rest of the world?

BTW I am enjoying this debate, bring it on...:D

(damn I am sounding like Robbo now)..LOL :D

Ok...it's gone a bit manic!

This thread was never about Iraq or having to "bow down" to the U.S.A.
I posted this as I see that this trade war will effect ALL of us involved in paintball, both sides of it. How long before the U.S.A. impose a more sweeping tariff, after the E.U.'s one comes into effect?
Remember the U.S. are not afraid to take on other countries in a trade war. I remember the Japanese motorcycle industry suffering a massive blow, when America posed a extortionate tariff on motorcycles over 699cc, to bolster it's failing motorcycle industry.
In all honesty U.S. paintball equipment manufacturers do not rely on the European market. The home market is so large it supplies a majority of the profit.
What you may find is that importers will simply find it uneconomical to import U.S. items into the U.K.
We will have to wait and see!

Not yet. Although there were without a doubt WMD programs.

Now I believe that the Human rights aspect of the (last) gulf war is correct.
But not right for this one?

As for Afganistan, well they were harbouring someone who, all the UN believe commited September 11th. In the end though, the UK, US and some other countries invaded a country based on evidence which a Government expert (god rest his soul) considered suspect.
What country are you talking about here? It sounds like you're talking about Afghanistan and how we went in because of the "sexed up" report that a government official committed suicide over?
We went into Afghanistan because the Taliban harbored Al Qaeda.
Going into Iraq, however, never hinged on whether Saddam's forces could deploy WMD in as little as 45 minutes, nor because a life-long US diplomat couldn't find anyone in Niger who would admit over a cup of sweet mint tea that Saddam bought any uranium from them.

I am not bringing race into it I am only stating that other countries have been bullies, and then gone onto further more extreme measures.
Such as racial supremacy. Hence, bringing race into a debate on steel tariffs. See, I already think the tariff is a bad idea, yet I'm not willing to concede that the US is a bully, that if left unchecked we will start measuring the noses of our citizens, and opening concentration camps. Forget the fact that racial purity would be all but impossible to achieve in a melting pot.

Well mate there was never a 'sexed up' report over Afganistan. However the report which was given to parliament by the government has be classed as questionable, and therefore the UK went to war on something which wasnot definate. That is like hanging someone because 'they mighthave' done it.

Is American a race? Yes. Have they acted selfishly and forced their opinions and way of life on other races? Yes.

Does a bully force someone at school to do what they want? Yes.

You may not believe America is bullying nations, but there is a lot of people who do.

I love it. I saw a show one time where the crystals from Atlantis had magical powers.
This I find offensive as I was using this to point out that the US is the main CO2 producer in the world. And the TV programme was backed up by scientific fact.

I enjoy debates, but I do not appreciate being mocked.

edit - maybe that last bit is a bit harsh, but your terminolgy seemed that way

Loki:

Most Americans do not regard "American" as their race. Rather, most Americans think of themselves as Black, Hispanic, Latino, Asian, or White. Some Whites, Asians, Blacks, etc. further subdivide themselves into finer distinctions of geographic origin. The only people who generally class themselves as ethnically American are Native Americans. Now, our European White majority largely committed genocide against those people, so the rest of the world is in little danger of being exterminated by racially American people any time soon. We are kind of touchy about race sometimes, in large part due to the conflicting urges to blend together and produce an American identity versus maintaining the traditions and characteristics that make our diverse histories unique. Hell, I don't even know if the way I described some of the races above is an epithet this week, so the "American Master Race" is not something I would lose sleep over.

In short, "American" is not a race, it is a nationality.

Mark:

Martha Stewart has an Easter Bunny program, and even though there are eggs, they were laid by chickens, not a giant, mildly terrifying rabbit.

Iraq may have had a WMD program, but that doesn't mean that there are WMD in Iraq. I doubt there have been any for years. I think that the Iraqis were poor bookeepers, and it got their government removed.

I sure hope you guys can still buy paintball gear at reasonable (or what passes for reasonable) prices. I hope that Europeans don't judge us by the President we didn't elect, as he sends our foreign policy careening out of control. Some of us are as worried as you are.

Gyro,

I hope I do not come across as 'anti-american' as I am not! I disagree with a certain persons foreign policy.

I must admit, I disagree with the UK's foreign policy as well.

In the End getting back to tony's point. Let us hope light shines on politicians forehead and we all live happily ever after. :D

Oh and your all ****ers :D:D:D:D
