Although I recognize the possibility (however remote) that both series would fail, somehow I can't picture PSP going under. Paintball without Jerry? That's like a boxing match without Don King.

To Intheno:
That's exactly what I'm saying.
Couple of questions:
1) If you spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on custom built semi trucks, tents, displays, etc, and your company was considered by most to be one of the premier manufacturers of paintball equipment, why would you settle for a 10'X10' space?
2) If "The Men" and "Shock" weren't playing Denver, you think this would've happened?
3) How much does a "Gold" sponsorship cost 1/2 way through the season? 4) Why didn't they go all out and buy a "Platinum" sponsorship?

As for Smart Parts, they are the ones spearheading the TV deal for the NXL. It could be that they consider sponsoring the NPPL as a conflict of interest. DYE and Shocktech are supporters of what the Gardners are trying to do, but nothing more. Now, if Philly managed to convince Smart Parts to let them play a Super 7 event, it's a safe bet that Smart Parts would sponsor the NPPL. Dynasty, on the other hand, would be more accurately categorized as a "JT team" who uses some Smart Parts equipment. I'm sure that Dynasty has their bases covered for whatever support they need with their markers.

uh, could it be you have that inverted?

Try looking at it like this:
"If Dye and Shocktech hadn't been willing to support the NPPL (to some degree), you think 'The Men' and 'Shock' would be playing this event?

Yeah. My main sponsor buys all my squeegees, but my sort of secondary sponsor pays for my house mortgage.

Smart Parts pays for health insurance for Dynasty. In America, that means they are the boss, pretty much.

I think you guys are over analysing this whole situation. Dye and Shocktech are both in business to make money and get as much exposure for their products. After the split there was a lot of bad blood between the PSP partners which Dave Dehaan and Renick Miller are a part of. The PSP wanted to crush the "upstart" league and made some moves to do so. Teams and sponsors had to choose sides and things got ugly. We are now a year and a half down the path and they realize that Chuck and Pure Promotions are not going anywhere. In fact, their player base has steadily increased. Outside industry support has been a part of the NPPL like never before and Chuck has done a splendid job. Realizing that they really aren't going to beat him. They have decided instead, to join him. There was a large base of players who cannot afford to play both leagues and the PSP partners companies were missing out on their dollars.
I know that I am stating the obvious but it seemed like most of you were missing the point.
