what if both leagues fold?
No-one is thinking about that. If both leagues run at a loss, and the TV deals don't make up the deficit, that is another possibility.

Do you believe that either league will keep ploughing money in so that we all have somewhere to play? Naive to think so. Support whatever league you play in to the hilt, or this is a real possibility.

If the promoters are holding their breath for TV to be the savior then they very well may fold. Is there some marketing strategy that says paintball will be wildly popular if televised? I love the sport, but I can't talk any non-players into watching 10 minutes of it with me.

So what happens to these leagues if the sport stays "recreational"?

1--I don't know about anybody else but I cry myself to sleep at night with worry. It seems nobody in the history of PB has ever been able to run a league profitably--at least if you believe everything they say.
2--So what you're trying to say is, keep shoveling good money after bad in the hopes the two completely insolvent leagues might hang on a little longer. Wow, with plans like that is it any wonder PB is in trouble.

How did you guys manage to twist "DYE sponsors the NPPL" into "the sky is falling"?

If I had to guess why DYE is sponsoring the NPPL I would have to point out the timing of the deal.

1) As of Denver, NXL players are aloud to play in the Super 7.
2) LA Ironmen are DYE's flagship team.
3) They entered Denver as "The Men".
4) DYE needs to be there to support their #1 team.
5) Might as well set up shop and sell some stuff since they have to be there anyways.
6) Can't set up shop unless you're a sponsor of the league.

No one is thinking about that because it is hard to believe that a league that turns teams away because it is overcrowded with participants, is gathering sponsors from all corners of the industry as well as the occasional outside company, and is renting Sheila E's nightclub to party in is actually in such dire finacial straits. No one is thinking about being required to play in mini skirts either, even though it could happen.

Playing in miniskirts does have a certain marketable quality to it...

My only point was that you guys are all talking about which league will succeed, or whether both will survive. No-one is thinking about the third possibility, than neither see their hard work as 'worth it', and choose to explore other, more profitable avenues.

The sky is not falling, it has nothing to do with shovelling money anywhere, good or bad, merely supporting the league you wish to succeed, instead of standing by to see what happens, and then complaining, bitching and whining that it didn't work out the way you wanted.
So stop crying Baca, you should save your money for 'the cause', whatever that is this week...

re. Dye,
ChuckC, are you saying that they are spending that kind of money because they have to be there for thier team. Thats ridiculous! They wouldn't even need a 10x10 booth to do that. They and Shocktech are in as Gold Sponsors. Did shocktech spend their money because they have to be there for Aftershock?
Following that train of thought, wouldn't Smart Parts 'have' to be there to support Dynasty?

I mean really.....
