I agree. A tourney I played in the US was just a local one only allowed hardened chest protectors and I had to wear that. It was uncomfortable and restricted movement but stopped bounce. It actually gave me a disadvantage but thats life lol I still wore the thing with no moans.

in xball it's a mental game you play as well as physical. Bonus balls are common and if a chest / back protector helps you keep your edge instead of losing it then its good, but bounces are a problem imo

The real issue is maintaining the integrity of the game. In a very real way the rules don't matter if industry wishes to circumvent or override them and this has happened time and again. One pull one shot. Gravity feed only. Etc. Etc. The uber padded jersey was designed to be a commercial advantage as are the padded vests. Are they good or bad for the game? Not really the point.
The point is the game is at the mercy of the industry and will remain so as long as there is no breaking or countervailing mechanism; like a players union or a league not dependent on industry support. And we've already seen there is no real support for a union.

hmmm... so its the last game of the day and your team needs to win to take first...

your sprinting down the tape to mug the last 2 players and suddenly the corner pops out and starts shooting at you....

if you have 400 pillows wrapped round your chest and the paintball feels more like a sponge hitting you.... are you going to stop or are you going to drill the first guy ? i know i would.

and on top of that if i was playing the corner and you kept going to me because the shot doesnt hurt as much as it normally would, fairly safe to say there would be a hopper emptied at your head :)

pain is part of the fun :)

*and dont start all the ^shooting at the head is dangerous^* crap again...

Id just like to point out that the trick to all this is not to get shot.

I wear a vest thing, only reason being is it could give me a slight advantage at that moment when I need one. Every percent helps.

So hang on a minute, if you try to pull off a mug at the wrong moment (chances are you guess when that time is right) and your opponent shoots you fair and square......you just carry on and shoot him back? Either that was a poor example, or you are a big fat cheaty McCheat.

My point is it is something that has been introduced and people who should know better are spoiling the game by allowing their use in competition.
Like I said in my first post I am not against players wearing them if they can, why would they not use any advantage they could.
I've yet to see evidence to support either of your points above, which basically boil down to alleging that:

a) players only wear them to promote bounces
b) by wearing them, players spoil the game

You seem to be stating those points as facts, when they are merely your personal opinion.

You want proof?
I'd only wear one to promote bounce (and maybe make me look like I have pecs )

Edit: I don't wear one, the only reason I'd have for wearing one is to promote bounce, and who needs bounces if you don't get shot? ;):)
