ok I wear a proto chest protector, yes I have medical reasons why as my skin bruises like a bitch due to treatment - but even if that wasnt the case I would still wear one.
Regardless, you get some shots that bloody hurt! Yeah I may be a wuss but after taking a nipple shot once with no padidng and it nearly being torn off im all for padding. Having said that i dont wear knee and i rarely wear elbow pads.... but for me my back, chest and kidneys are low pain threshold areas, if a tourney wasnt to allow them I simply would be unable to play;
I will admit I was shocked that so many guys wore them but I think they are great. Not for bounce just to reduce that initial sting.
I know alot of people dont wear them but people have to realise that people have differnet pain thresholds, I have met guys who pad up more than I do and vice versa.
I think the fact they are made is great, in the states we have a lot of young kids who play tourney and i mean 9-10 years old I think its great, and maybe that vest makes them feel a little safer.
I say yeah im a pussy when it comes to that but tbh without it I am not sure i could play. Having said that though I think once you reach a certain level, prob div 1 I think the added bounce they give becomes unfair. Yes I personally have medical reasons to need one but maybe at that level hard plastic if they want to wear it to guarentee more breaks lol
As for the bounce issue.... my tits cause more bounce that one of those vests - I have still never had a break on them do we ban tits? *grin*
thats just my personal opinion.
