The guy has a good point.

If you take your dive tank(in test!) to H-PAC at a tourney, and then fill your own DOT bottle. Would that be against the law?

And would the tourny organiser let you??? i.e. any insurance problems??

Anyone like to shed any light????

FILLING FROM DIVE TANK

hI ,
NO PROBLEM FILLING FROM DIVE TANK AND WE WILL FILL THEM ALL DAY IF IN TEST, THE DIFFERENCE IS THE DOT CYL ISNT BEING FILLED FROM A COMMERCIAL SOURCE AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENS ITS DOWN TO YOU.

2 x threads!

Im sure you CANNOT use DOT bottles in any site in the UK, for their own insurance reasons.
Or at least this is what every site owner has told me.
Even before H-Pac came onto the scene Russell (Series 2002/3) would occasionaly check to see wether DOT bottles where in use.

However if the information i have posted is incorrect. Then im sure someone would love to buy my PMI Pure Energy 4500psi Dot bottle off me

[note]same answer to above thread i know, both relevant to the same question though  [/note]

we are using dive tanks at the indoor toget over this and i will talk to you about the tester of my dot bottle at the indoor .
How long is a test on a dive tank and dose it change if the bottle is only used dry ie not for diveing.
I should know being a traind diver for the last 10 years but there you go..

I have just bought 2 secondhand 300BAR tanks

from a diveshop in Kent, and they let me know that they are std valves, and have just been tested which is good for 5 years, so I agree.

(That is Steel tanks btw)

re dive cylinder testing

dive tanks from new with dive valves, ie those without built in vent and gauge are due the following, visual after 2.5 yrs then hydro at 5 yrs from manufacture as they are still technicaly capable of being used underwater so come under those regs.
if a cylinder has a pillar valve with built in vent and gauge it is deemed for surface use only and needs a hydro every 5 yrs from date of manufacture.
if you have an old tank it will only get a 2.5 yr test from its next hydro test if deemed a dive tank or 5 yrs if deemed surface, the main differance is the valve which tells whether it is for surface or underwater use, paintball cylinders are due if they are of carbon construction are every 3 years on fibre wrapped and 5 yrs on hooped wrapped from date of manufacture.

hope this helps a bit
