NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO TO FILLING DOT BOTTLES AT ALL. The reason it has been done in the past is cos people have chose to ignore that rule as ignorance is bliss. Now u can photocopy ur passport, birth cert. or anything else but it wont make any difference. It is still ILLEGAL in this country.

Rich I have avoided posting on this subject as it has been a GRRR subject for me for quite sometime, However the older threads that I have participated in have been polite. The use from a commercial filling stand point is that you cannot as an UK firm fill a DOT bottle, an englishman should not even be possession of the DOT bottle, yes the selling etc has been done to death and the companys in the UK who sell these are the right side of the law, but they and I and you (the masses) know that it is sharp practice and does nothing to further the sport within this country. The excemptions that have been allowed in the past "may" not now be allowed but closer reading of the regualtions is required. H-Pac have only annouced they will not fill DOT in this country to tell all those people who have a DOT bottle and are ENGLISH that it isn't going to happen for them, nothing wrong in that. Perhaps H-Pac could clarify the filling of a DOT bottle for a foreign national wether or not this is possible..even if it is (I believe it will be allowed) this will still stop DOT bottles in the possesion of english people being filled.

In America as long as my bottle is in test they allow the filling, but then I have used both DOT and HSE tanks when playing there..now my bottle is dual test so mute point.

We are trying to get exact clarification on this subject from the HSE. All we keep gettin is CANT FILL DOT bottles at all. We have mentioned bout visiting teams and they say it does not exsist. Its more of a political than safety stance there taking but i wish they would give us an exact answer as this argument is really starting to get messey and p**s people off. As soon as any news comes available it will be posted every where but until then HPAC have to take the no to filling or testing stance.

I'd say if you are a foreign national, and have a DOT bottle, it's probably be worth taking a photocopy of your passport along with you, to prove that you're entitled to use of a DOT bottle.

knowing jersey they probably have their own testing system:D

Worriors - are you going to be playing M25 league?

simplist thing to do is too wait for H-pac to come on and ask them this question.

Guys will you fill a DOT bottle if it belongs to a foreign national?!?!? we know you won't do it to an english man but is there an exemption for foreigners that are visiting and playing?

plz reply as this has been done to death now with conflicting advice from me and others.....

I have just got my dot bottle tested in the uk the sert i got with it says it is legal and safe to the uk law so can i get this filled by h-pac?
If it has a legal uk test it should be ok i am going to talk to h-pac and the tester at the indoor to get this sorted as it is cheeper to get the bottles re tested than to buy new ones.....

dot cylinder testing

re cyl tests, i spoke to the Hse yesterday and guess what, you still cannot test a dot cyl to dot standards in the uk and its still illegal to sell them for use in the uk.
Unless that cyl has Hse on it you cannot test to Hse standards as the Hse needs to have accepted the standard to which it was manufactured. Im afraid that untill the Hse make there minds up we will not recognise your cylinder test, if im wrong and your tester can show me in writing that the Hse are happy with what there doing then we will fill it but as usual a goverment formed bodt ie the HSE seem to be understaffed, and standards seem to be conflicting.

Alternative solution...

Hmmm...if I was a visiting team, and arrived early enough, and had DOT tanks, I might consider going to a local dive shop, renting out a 3200psi dive tank or two, talking the tournament's air supply person about filling the dive tanks (which should be to local standards) and then using your standard fill adaptor to fill my team's DOT tanks as much as possible. Yes, you won't get a 4500/5000 psi fill but you will get a fill, and everyone's legal, kinda...hmmm...now that I'm thinking about it, I might want to get one of those 90 pound N2 tanks you can get at a welding supply shop (oh, my aching back!) and then...or maybe just have Nial try to hammer something out between the HSE and DOT. An old teammate of mine bought an HSE tank at a tournament over here in the states and had the testing lab drill a hole in it which is how they tell you your tank doesn't pass muster...
