Huh? So 2005 will be half a season?

Chris, do you know whether us mere mortals (non pro) would be playing an Xball format or a 7-man?

If it's 7 man I can't imagine there will be much uptake as most have already commited to the existing domestics.

However, I suppose we should wait for full details.

Anyone know when the 'proper' details will be announced?

Before this story broke i received a letter from an influential member of British paintball. This outlined what this league would mean and how it would be organised. I said it then and i will say it now: This is the future of British paintball.

I can't wait to be part of it.

One thing i will emphasise though, and i mentioned it when the idea got bandied about at the start, the format must be played by all teams because it is that 7man xball style that will put us all back on the map.

While this indeed sounds interesting it doesn't change the fundamental issues y'all have. Since Teej tied this to Robbo's 4-parter I might point out that while the top down approach serves a couple of interests and may help promote PB generally it doesn't change the grassroots/portal to PB as it exists now in the UK that restricts development of a "middle class" of players.

It also sounds kind'a like a trial project to me for the MS broadly. See if it works in the UK before we take it Euro wide.

And about that scouting talent business--if I was looking at it as a young player all good but as a team trying to get established I'm not overjoyed at the notion the big dogs are potentially actively looking to steal my talent.

I thought (I read somewhere) that the top UK teams are not going to improve by playing each other domestically, instead they should focus on closed training sessions???

Won’t this new league be counterproductive for our representatives in the NPPL?

Ben:
The difference between this league and the PA is the standard of compettition at the top level.

And there’s all the bull**** rules that no one likes but without an alternative we cant do anything about...

John, I know what you mean about the rules but I think it's a small price to pay for the level of organisation the PA has, something that no domestic before it (to my knowledge) has come close to.

I like the sound of something X-ball related but if it's just 7man I won't be getting very excited about it.

However, will reserve judgement until the full details come out.

Again, anyone know when some 'official' announcement will be made about this new league?

The emphasis behind this idea was always on organisation and provisions for the teams. Facilities continued to feature high up the list alongside the importance of strong event management. This, with the people mentioned now becoming involved, will easily rival the PA League in terms of its abillity to run a tournament series/league.

Planet Piper away from you freaks!
Sounds like a great idea and I am sure it will all work, but one thing that worries me........ Has anyone asked the PA if they can do this? I mean they own british paintball so surely they should be asked..... just curious :D :D
