Back in the right direction...

Thanks for your input guys.:)

Maybe I wasn't entirely clear in what direction I wanted this thread to go. Maybe I could ask for thoughts on things like people putting £200 barrel kits or air systems on entry level markers- are these upgrades actually going to be effective? Would their money be better spent on buying a more technologically advanced marker in the first place?

Thoughts please:)

No irony there, you may get beaten, cause you suck :p

Lighten up Rancid, 'Tis the season.
If you want to know where I got those from, they are slogans from No Fear t-shirts.

Have no fear, arthritis & rheumatism are actually assets these days, set your trigger short enough & you can rain the paint in.
:D As for Irony, hows this - you really think I expect people to take me seriously? Look at my avatar, I'm just here for the laughs. And its 1 word, not 2

Oh yes - to stay on topic - Dicky, the marker does not make the player, but it does make it easier to look good, and does also cover up a few mistakes. Accuracy by volume.

In which case, I apologise unreservedly. You know, I have been a bit narky the last couple of days.

The gun doesn't make the player but it is very helpful. Whats with guys put like 300+ dollars into ther tippmans i mean just go buy a cocker you'll do better with that for the same price.
- A little story to prove that the gun doesnt matter. Me and a few of my friends from my team left all of our nice gear at home and wore street close to play at another site a little bit farther away that none of us had been to before. We all rented tippman pro-lites and played in hte experienced group. They laughed at first thinking we were all first timers until we beat them with out even trying. I burned was out snap shooting exalibers and angels with this rental pro-lite. It was the one of the best non tournament days of ball i ever played.
p.s. I'am a little 14 year old punk that loves shooting dinosaurs

You get variable mileage for upgrades. Certainly the cheaper air tanks (fixed output, screw-in to an ASA) are probably worthwhile as they are far more consistent and won't cost several times the price of the marker originally!

I suppose you buy the upgrades for what you consider important. For most it's the barrel/paint match so lots gets spent on barrels and Freaks. Others like to have fancy markers so their money goes on cosmetics/annodizing etc, etc.

Gets to a point where in retrospect, the performance of the marker is similar to the base model of a higher end brand, but then often people can't afford to spend the dosh in one lump sum. Once you get to the high-end electro toys, I'd hazard that they all have comparable performance, BPS, consistency, reliability - they just have different approaches to doing the same things. It's on the cheaper markers that a well placed upgrade can really make a noticeable difference, but this will probably vary depending on different models and their shortcomings.
