I can appreciate that there are people out there with loads of talent, but what is the point in all these self-righteous dinosaurs going on about how they use an older/less-sophisticated/slower marker?

I'm sure you've got loads of talent, but who are you to say that you've got more than anyone else? To be blunt, in my opinion, if you put two players of equal capability against each other, the one with the more advanced marker is going to come out on top.

I'm expecting a grilling from people who are going to say," there was this one time when i shot the guy with the angel", but I'm not interested in that. I'm sure you have. My point is why do you feel the need to tell everybody else that you're better than them?

hmm makes sense, although It is amazing to take out people who are weilding markers which cost about 10x a trillion times more expensive than your puuny potato gun which couldn't kill a butterfly, Im goin this weekend up against three other guys (TWSITY, KETCHUM AND SATAN) carrying an Impulse vision, a regular impulse and a loaned inferno, I gotta brand new E-99, but no revy, time to blend i think. But I bet I have some OWNING to do. And I'l let you know how I got on.

There is a team down here called Team Fullout, one game they mostly eqiupped inferno fields markers going up against good teams with angels etc. And they Owned.

You get ppl peppering some1's bunker with an Ir3, but it only takes 1 second for u to snapshoot and get him.

One of the funniest things I ever heard was (well in paintball anyway, there was the penis / ear thing but hey that's a different thing entirely):

"Angels are sh*t, I've taken X out twice with my inferno".

Just cos you lit someone up with a marker with all the technology of a flintlock doesn’t mean top end markers are sh*t. Of course some people who play with Spyders, Inferno's etc are good playerz and got some mad skillz. Example BigDog (Timmy 2k2) and me - (IR3 Fly) both getting backdoored by an E-99. All respect to the guy, we made a mistake he exploited it.

I do agree SnapShooting is a valuable and highly important skill, but it is a tool for exploiting another playerz mistakes and weaknesses (i.e. hanging out, looking the wrong way etc). I still think the old adage of Firepower wins games: shoot more paint, is probably more a factor in today's games and tournies. Ok it takes a second to snap shoot someone, but if you've got a cloud of inbound paint, but difficult to get outta ya bunker??? Besides this is your front players bunkering opportunity.

So shy do people pan top-end markers, me thinks:

1. Fear of change
2. (back to the angels are sh*t) A bit of the old green eye is creeping in. Does it mean their sh*t cos some peeps can't afford one??? I've seen posts having pop's at some of the younger guys who have been bought Ir3's etc by their parents, well good luck to em if they can afford to buy Junior an Ir-Baboon / e-blade etc etc for his / her birthday. Spanks of green-eye. Or maybe some people would rather buy a newer shinnier marker than a week pissing it up with the lads in Ayia Slappa or Shaggamoose.

ooooh having a rant today.

Cost??

This ain't the cheapest of hobbies my friends, and some of us can't exactly afford the latest "100 bps LCD heartrate monitor and tells you when your opponent runs out of paint" shiny toy, I'm afraid.

Another part of why people play with old style stuff is that it's a fun challenge to go up against someone with superior kit. You might not stand much of a chance on a sup air field, but on a larger playing area you perhaps get more of a chance to use different skills and abilities than seeing how fast you can burn through a 9+1 harness ;) Who in the first early rec days didn't love the "everyone vs the marshals" game?

If costs were lower I'm sure you'd see a massive influx to the tourney side of things with all that entails - even I'd sign up if AGD were to sponsor me to the tune of a shiny new X Mag (folorn hint during the season of goodwill, etc, etc).

But I'm still keeping my phantom for sentimental reasons - not because it makes me any better - just 'cause it's fun to use.
