One things for sure, no-ones putting a gun to the young ladies head.

This is the same ages-old discussion about prostitution. I guess the women aren't being exploited and it's the men only.

why are we even gettin into this, yes sex sells yes we are gonna buy it.

I am really startin to worry about tha sexuality of alot of the males on these boards, as soon as sum gorgeous chick gets her kit off, you all start cryin bout tha image of the sport and 'oh wot if its not good for paintball'

The way i see it paintball is doin just fine at the moment, its gettin bigger every year, so why are sum people so worried about the image and wot other people think??

If sum people dont wanna play cause chicks be gettin there kit off or they think we are sexist then its their loss, at the end of the day we all kno wot they are missing and they dont, there fools for not playin :D

Chicks + paintball = all good

Alright Robbo, stop posting under MakD's user name.

Sex sells, ful stop. It's all subliminal; men see a naked women and associate whatever product they may be advertising with sex and therefore pleasure. SO, in their subconcsious they'll be more likely to buy said product as they associate it with pleasure. It's a very basic instinct!! Ahem... enough of the psychology methinks... ;) :p

S**t Happens!!
ok I would agree with Paul Collier. He basicly pointed out that most people who see these adverts are men, due to the fact most people who play paintball are Men. But when more and more women join there will be a change in advertising to fit the broder range of people.

These paintball companies who have women in skimpy outfits are trying to cater for the majority here. They feel they can get more and better advertising from this and that is why they are doing this.

Yes it may feel offending to the women who play paintball but remember if it was the other way around (more women than men playing paintball) it would have been half naked men in these adverts :( .

you gotta remember that there are a lot of different advertising techniques used and this is just one of them. it's not just paintball that has used women for advertising. LOL one advert I remember seeing from Tarrent on TV was one where the camera was focused on the head of a lady whos head is bobing up and down while she is making sucking sounds  now everyone who I asked who saw it (men and women) thought that it was something really dodgy but by the end of the advert the camera zoomed out and you found she was actually eating some Noodlez :D . If that isnt using the desires of men for advertising then I dont know what is.

Also I just want to say Yes I do like The pictures of women in practically no clothes, I like them very much, BUT Most of these types of adverts just make me think after I have seen it "hmmm that was I really nice Advert/picture but what was it they were selling...........em.......dunno......auch well :D "

Sammi T dont worry there probably will be a day when the guys are posting up on these forums saying they dont like how the male image is being showen in the new adverts :p where as you'll be saying it's great :D

You hit the nail on the head here.
People that shout "It's because sex sells" have only a very limited knowledge of advertising and merchandising. If you want to use sex as a selling aid, there will have to be some connection with the product being offered, which obviously is non existent here.
However, there is another marketing technique being employed here. In Holland there's a saying that roughly translates into "It doesn't matter what sort of stuff they talk about me, as long as they talk about me", which applies in this case. As long as an ad gets people talking about the ad and the company involved, it's all good. I'm willing to bet that this thread has increased traffic to the JT website somewhat. So even though the advert has f*ck all to do with what JT sells, we are talking about JT. The same thing applied to a Benneton ad a few years back. All they showed was the bloodied, bullet hole infested camo jacket of some poor kid that got killed in Bosnia. Obviously Benneton doesn't sell clothes people have been killed in, but it did spark a lot of talk about Benneton, and sales went up because of it.

If any ad appeals more to the "sex sells" side of the brain, it's the Dye ads. These ads display what are supposedly the cute guys of paintball, who have all the moves, and some of whom are known to date hot women. People want to identify with that, and that's why you buy Dye gear. You wanna be like them, so you can look the part and get the chicks.

So to sum all this up, the JT ad has suckered all of you... ;)

On the flipside, does paintball sell sex? If you're old enough, have a Google for a DVD called "Paintball Babes" - just don't do it at work though. A movie about paintball at last!
