You know, I like looking at the girls, but I don't know if I buy more stuff from companies that feature spokesmodels like Chelsea. Mostly I buy stuff from companies I trust, like Planet, Freeflow, Crossfire, Dye, JT, PMI, Evolve, Ti, etc. I get stuff from websites that have big selections at reasonable prices. Some of those companies utilize cheesecake marketing, but most don't.

I guess when I want to look at women, I look for women, and when I want to look at paintball gear, I look for that. I don't find it offensive, but I don't think it affects my buying habits.

Interestingly enough, such advertisement is illegal in Sweden and would be subject to stiff fines. Any depiction of "bodies" must be shown strictly in the direct context to the product being offered.

One PB company here received at least a warning (they may have been fined) for using a female in a slightly suggestive pose, scantilly clad holding a paintball gun. The ad was obviously using the model's body as eye candy.

The Swedish idea behind such laws are to resist the historical tendency to exploit women's bodies and thus reduce all of womankind to mere objects for men's use.

Now just because some females approve of such sexism doesn't make it any more or less acceptable.

I certainly won't go on a warpath about this and Facefull's use of female bodies but I don't think such ads help the image of PB. But, then again, this is certainly not any different than mainstream culture.

I expect flaming because I have expressed these ideas and some will say that I'm an old hippy fart. Go ahead on! Maybe it's true.

To determine who is being exploited, follow the money.

In a strip club, the money flows from the men to the Dancers. Therefore, the men are being exploited by the women.

In sex-sells-advertising, the money goes from consumers (mostly men) to the companies doing the advertising (mostly men) to the women who pose (mostly...uh). Most of the money goes into the hands of the companies doing the advertising, so they are exploiting the consumers, mostly, but the hotties are getting their cut, too.
