Just a mad idea but, how about if it was run by some individuals that only took out there expences and left all the money in to develop the events.

It was run on sup air fields and was not trying to be any other type of event. Real prizes no plastic please Delta alone has enough to start it out tubaware outlet!

The event could develop with the players seeing where there game fee's are going. I am not saying that everyone else does it wrong but if we do want some Northern events we MUST do somthing different in order for them to happen!

Choice is a wonderful thing, at the moment there are few new teams coming into the sport if we do not encourage the local northen people we will have no more new player's or the like's of the PA.

Why not at least try and put on 3 events next year?

Agree in theory...

Find out how much to it would cost to.
a. hire a site for the day
b. get air supplied via h-pac or equivalent
c. sort marshalls
d. marquee for staging

Sure there is loads more to think of :)

There are plenty of sup air fields to aquire from around the north east. At least 4 I could name :)

Like Bear said if it was ran and covered costs, or ran at a profit but the profit re invested then it may be feasible?

It is up to us to sort out the North.

We could hire some land from a farmer or local estate, get insurance of a one day event. I remember Bully's self Marshalling idea with only the field Ultimate staying on all day. It may not have been perfect and is not the way to go should it get off the ground but it would get us started.

Hire Toilet's, and talk to a Marquee company then we need a building supplier's or Scaffolding company to sponser the netting?

If we work together you never know what we could get. If a team supplies a Sup air field then they get 50% reduced entry?? it would be worth a try, or we may end up with hundred's

Considering paintball is played from Brighton to Edinburgh (roughly) then the M62 is actually dead center. I live next to the M62 in the pennines and the nearest tournament fields to me are Skirmish Notts, Elsham & Marchwiel, all 80+ miles away in a southernly direction. So I have sympathy for any player who lives north of the M62.
Teams wise if you take into account teams on or above the M62 then you can then include all the Manc teams - Liverpool teams etc. This will give you over 30 teams then take into account that there are teams based just below M62 - Synergy & Sheffield Trojans for example that would play a good tournament you have well over 40 teams. So teams should not be a problem.
Biggest laugh is all three of the midlands based tournements are managed by people living North of the M62. Gillie & Hatts (MPANL) & Wendy (UK Masters) live seriously up north, whilst "young" Mr Bull (Series 2k4/2K5) lives just above the M62. So what is the problem? Some one willing to do the work starting up the series and running it.

For the record I actually wanted to run PA events at Witton Castle, after all it's only 25 minutes from my nice warm bed on a cold Sunday morning, but I was over-ruled. I would just like to reiterate that the MPANL is not in itself a "midlands" event but national and is situated in the midlands because geographically it needs to be in the middle of the country.

Wendy and the rest of the crew inherited the Midlands Masters, now UK Masters from people who originally lived in that part of the world.

Series 2K which was generally known as the "nothern" series has gradually slipped towards the midlands for 2 reasons as far as I can see. One is lack of suitable venues furher North, or at least lack of people prepared to make venues available and second is the fact that people just don't want to travel.

As Dark Warrior says, why doesn't someone run and event in the North? Do all the events that happen in paintball have to be a series why not a one off Northern event and see how it goes?

I know that Hatts wanted to run PA in the North but it has not happened that way, they have a long drive like the rest of us South.

As a sport if you want events and they are not there then orginise them, it should not always be down too a few individuals to run events and everyone moan they they could do better.

Lets get some regional input and see what happen's.
