So would I be welcome to put together a 5man team, away from my regular team, to enter this thing?

Its all becoming clearer to me, honest!:p

Ill make sure its only made up of young players with potential, no pro/am "name" players.

No, No, No, this is not a team entry thing here, everybody is coming along as individuals then myself, Ledzy and Beaker will decide who goes in what 5 man team and this will change as the day goes on, so just come along and we'll do the thinking, you just worry about playing, that's all we want you to do :)

Pete- I can't believe you played with my emotions on the phone today. Telling me I should come to the trials, even though I can't play for England. Shame on you big guy:D It was nice talking to you though.

Ok, maybe ive been playing front too long and the only words I understand are stay and go, but, im still grasping how this thing is gonna work...

The idea is to filter out the players with the most potential/skill in the country. But how is this really gonna work because the players competing will not be playing against opponents of the kind of standard that countries like USA are gonna be entering, wouldnt it be best just to look for players within any division in the millennium series (nov, am or pro).
Im not trying to rain on the barbecue, my point is that, sure its a good thing if some kid goes blasting up fools at notts, but when it comes to the real deal hes not gonna be used of the environment, sh!t himself and not play to the potential he showed at practise (basically due to a lack of experience).

Just a point i thought id make, I want England to do well as much as you:cool:

Matt, and where would you suggest we get these people who are up to the standard of the players in the US ?

....Yep, thats a damn good point!!

Threads have been getting a bit stale so I had to make some sort of point:)

Obviously, we're not going to find players who practise 3 times a week and so on, all i was saying is that its gonna be difficult to make sure that the players are gonna hack it, really they must have some amount of 'big league' experience to go alongside their potential, otherwise, they maybe overwhelmed. I remember the first pro game I ever played, I shat myself and didnt perform...but like you say, theres no choice is there, there is no 'magical' source of US quality players.
As im writing this reply I just realised what a damn hard job you have here Robbo, I give much respect to you-hope it pays off.
