wow thanks. Hopefully i wont get some people moaning about it, and hopefully the managers alright with it. thanks for all the information gup. ill have a great day thanks ( woud be better if it was at campaign though ) ;)

Player : So, how come arm and leg shots dont count?

Marshall : Well if you were in a war and u got shot in the arm or leg you could still carry on fighting...

Player : And if you get shot in the head?

Marshall : Well.....

I reckon that rule is just a licence to print money

It takes all the excitement out of the game.....
players quickly catch on that they can look over the top of their barricades and just sit there shooting as long as they dont show their chest.

If they get shot out quicker then the games should (in theory) finish quicker, thus allowing more games to be played on the day.

If I was a cynic, I would suggest that 90% of shots taken are either on the head, leg, arm or marker, therfor it takes more paint to shoot someone out, ergo - it costs the punter more money to play as they try and hit the smaller elimination zone.

the punter also gets a longer game to enjoy, as they are involved that bit longer, therby increasing the chance to shoot more paint.. blah blah blah.

That's if I was a cynic of course :D

Yup, thats about right i guess! Players at the Homewood Centre have said they prefer this way of playing because not being eliminated themselves is MORE important than getting eliminations! Think back to your first couple of rental days ... i bet most of you didn't want to spend the day in the dead zone and probably ignored that little shot on your arm which you hardly noticed anyway [wipe] what hit? :D
AFAIK this is the only DF centre that is using this rule, all others only apply the no headshots rule, with variations.
Other Companies have alternative ways of keeping players in the game for longer such as when they are hit they run back to their base where a marshal wipes them down and reinserts them into the game.
Otherwise, if a player was eliminated in the first couple of minutes of each game they could end up playing a total of about 20 minutes of paintball in the whole day which, lets face it, isn't much fun!!

if you say so gups :)

i certainly remember how much i ashamedly spent!!

i'm not saying other sites dont do it, of course they do! it's business! I just liked the way you tried to spin it, to sound like that punters enjoy more game time, and not the fact that it's a ruleing simply desgined to generate more revenue for the site owners.

Peace

Im not convinced thats really the case tho pestillence (extra spend). Most players who come to the HW centre are young and have a fixed spend limit. A lot of them are teens/ early 20's and don't have credit cards so when they've spent their £30 or whatever on paint thats it, they're finished for the day.
What you see a lot players doing is rationing their paint so they only take a hopper full or a hopper and a pot (or in some cases 50 paintballs!) out per game.
Marshals don't carry extra paint to sell to players on the field in the way that many companies do, nor do we operate a 'tab', so there are no nasty paint bill surprises at the end of the day. Players decide how much paint to take out with them per game and when they've shot it that's it.
Sure in a few cases such as stag do's, works outings etc when players are out for a special occasion and the skys the limit they will spend more if they have a credit card, but thats their choice! They come to play paintball and we provide the opportunity to play for as long as possible, rather than stand watching in the dead box :)

I work for Delta Force

Now i dont know about the surry site but our site up in knutsford would be very happy for the more experienced players to bring their own equipment. Gups is right in every sense and as she said, its up to the centre manager on the day. i can tell you the centre manager is a very good friend of mine and im sure that you would be allowed to bring your own equipment. As for eliminations.....

headshots dont count
gun shots dont count
but the rest does!!!!

Yes the paint is expensive....but how else is a PAINTBALL site going to make is money.....through selling PAINTBALLS!!

As for the insurance, im with Gups on this one to, not part of that bit of the company, im just there to turn those buddind young rec ballers into full blown Ollie Langs, or even better, ME.:D

Call me a grumpy *******, but why do you want to shoot up rental customers with a big gun anyway?:(
Stick your hopper on a site marker and work on those core skills. That way no-one complains about "the guy with the machine gun" and you aren't a punter hunter.:p

Hiya Ollie! You'll be applying that technique when u go up against the rentals at the Big Game then, yeah?? Will you be using the 'Imperial Shuttle' this time? I reckon you should have a Harley for this game, considering the theme!

JonnyTomato... identify yourself!! .. i must know you????
