sorry, was out last night

Ok, so all good points.

When i said the XSV and Nexus cost the same to mill, i was exaggerating a bit - but having said that, i agree with bennor. At the end of the day, these team guns are the same material, just a different design - and if, like i'm sure planet does, have a cnc machine that can do that sort of thing, then its not gonna cost a whole heap more to do. :)

Ok, so lets for the sake of arguement say, it costs planet an extra £25-£30 gross (including the extra time and effort  :) - Where is the rest of that £250 coming from?

Yes they are a custom label, and its like all things, as a couple of you say, you pay for the exclusivity - but lets be honest - although all the manufacturers bring out 'limited editions' - they'll make as many as they can sell :) And why not? Fair play. I wasn't aiming this at planet in particular, just happened to notice the 1050 squid price tag and wondered.

Answered my own question then really aint I? :p

Mike from brum, couldn't agree more than with your last comment, but i wasnt referring to the SL66 when i wrote about the xsv - now paying an extra 266 for a complete overhaul and improvement seems alot better value for money than an extra 250 for the standard 06 customs! :D Perhaps this puts my original point more into perspective - in the SL66 you get clearly get your extra money's worth.

Keep comments coming though, this'll be a good thread for anyone looking to get a custom ego

Mario - i wasnt talking about the SL66, thats a completely different thing - no need to get personal with the Angels :D ;) Give me an Angel anyday :D

Rich - go back to PBNation you traitor :D

Extra cost of milling comes from all the extra design hours, and program writing and machine setup that goes into it and all the overheads associated with it. All of those costs have to be applied on a per unit basis, plus a markup...which you expect to pay...
At the end of the day for it to be worthwhile to develop something like that, and then remarket it etc etc....all those costs considered, the price has to go up considerably or it's just not worth the hassle.
If people didn't wanna pay that much for them, they wouldn't be on the market. Fact is people like cleaning paint from all those dodgy holes and embedded shapes in their guns, beats going out n stuff I guess......

extra design work

yep matski, thats a point, but if they can completely change the gun (into the SL66) for virtually the same price, why were/are the original xsv and nexus that much?

Ok, so i was just looking on planet, and happen to notice that the nexus and XSV egos are 250 squid more than the standard 06  My question is, why so much? And the warped is a full £300 more!

So do you really get that extra £250 worth? Because at the end of the day, they cost like pretty much the same amount of money to make as the standard guns; the different milling doesn't cost anything more than the normal for planet to do, the colours don't, so why oh why?

Apart from the team label, is it worth it? And before someone says the nexus bolt is better, they don't cost £250 either ;) :)

Ego fanatics welcome ................:D
the price difference is as pointed out already largely due to the extencive milling involved in producing them....not only are they machined differently they are done using 2 machines. as for the amount of extra time they take, im not 100% sure but it runs into hours and it is far from a simple process. the fact that they take so long to run limits the number also.

the rest of the £250 comes from your guess at the cost being MILES out ;)
