Custom Marker finishes...

They are cool arent they!!

The pattern is printed onto a clear film....a section of film large enough for the object to be treated, is floated on water, and sprayed with a special "activator"...this liquifies the film, but the pattern remains intact...the item is dipped...and quickly rmoved, filling all the nooks and crannies as required....teh layer of inkl is only around 3 microns in thickness, which is why it will get in all teh little places, like teh chequering on the shotgun stock above.

The basecoat...whatever colour, will show through the opaque/translucent areas of the pattern applied.

The finish should negate any Dust finished anno on the marker, as total thicknedd is around 100 microns, after the tough laquer, be it gloss or matt, has been applied.

Apparently, the film tastes very nice...cammo one tastes better than most, and the fish one tastes of cardboard, which is odd.

God does hate Puppies as a general rule, but tollerates them most of teh time...however, he does like to show off a bit, and apparently quite enjoys, the feeling he gets from maiming or killing a cute little puppy...especially if this will make a young child cry for days.

It is important to learn about mortality in a way you'll remember while you're young.

One point you missed that I am particularly curious about... The base layer: opaque?

Thanks for all the answers on this process. It is what I thought it was, more or less, but I knew very little about it.

When I've seen this on several airguns the final finish was a very light dust finish, matt, although I guess it can be lacquered if you wanted shiny.

I have been tempted to get a gun done as one of my housemates has the realtree on his airgun, want me to take some pics?

Skeet, are you setting yourself up as a middleman in all this? or just gonna do things direct?

Well...seeing as I have a bit of knowledge about markers, I thought that I could take the marker, strip it, if the customer couldnt...then send it off to be sorted, then put it back together..I have an arangement pending with the company.

Whn you consider, that to do a full air rifle combo...would cost around £180...I think, depending on how labour intensive, the company finds markers to be, it should be as expensive if not cheaper, than annodizing...many designs are available..even Candy finish paint jobs.

I may buy a number of ION bodies and get them done in a couple of different designs..including a Cash Money one...obviously..numbers of teh same item, in teh same pattern, can be done easier, and therefore, less expensively..so, a selection of team guns..all wantinga similar/teh same design...would be cheaper, than one off jobs.

No problem chap, like the idea, give everyone what they want for less.

I might get one of my guns done to prove the concept, I'll check to see where these airgunners get the stuff done and then let you know. I have no idea about costs.

Agreed a lot of the money is in assembly etc.

I'll see if the gun is around at home and take pics.

The only place they get their stuff done..is to buy it as it is...or get it done where I will be getting stuff done, because the company I deal with, is teh only UK company with the license for weapons and teh Realtree and Mossy Oak camo's...naturally...I will get it done cheaper, via my arrangement. I should be sinding a cocker body off at some point, so if you want something done..let me know..I cant tell anyone a price until I have one done, so the company knows how labour intensive they are...

If you want one done, I will get it done at cost to me...plus postage or whatever, so there are some samples out there.
