I've seen this too much and have had my fill of it.
I'm watching the best Europe (and the US) has to offer, they're at the top of their game and can't move due to coaching.
In any other division the guy that makes the snake is usually the guy that wins the game, in the CPL, the guy that makes the snake is the guy who has to sit at his end of it till his opposite gets shot out, then he can move.
All because of coaching.
Let the players play the paintball.
Coaching sucks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with your sentiments Jim.
I watched a lot of the CPL games in Paris. Great moves, - in fact potential game busters - were spoiled by sideline coaching. And of course the home teams will always have an advantage due to the number of 'coaches' on the sidelines.

I would prefer skill and movement to be rewarded by eliminations, and I disagree with those who say that crowd involvement is essential for the game to progress.

Let's ditch the coaching and rely on pure skill and risk taking by the players.

cpl coaching

Guys, i completely see your point off skill but i do not agree.
How many times have u bin sitting there on the sideline and some one moves into the snake and another person is coming to mug him and you have wanted to shout out?! as i say i see your point but the more people we have on the sidelines getting involved with painball the more the paintball market can grow.

Coaching is a load of cr*p... you can train a bunch of monkeys to play if all they have to do is listen to the guy who can see everything... Might as well give the coach a remote control and take away the need to train....

I've seen that on a Xball moovie where the pro player enter the snake and asks the coach:
Player: "and now?"
He said:"wait wait wait, go now"
Player:"ok and now?"

man this is not paintball... i know that not all the xball players are like that, but the worst example of xball for me was in this moovie!!!

Paintball it's a mooving chess game, as Jaime Menino told me! Is more head than fingers!

Coaching totally sucks.
Stealers lost thier 3rd game to Icon through coaching on both sides of the netting and they were in the final for the 7man where coaching isnt even allowed.

The crowd never helps ethier, a player makes a move that no one on the opposition sees but are inform by 100s of French spectators and a few fellow French players ileagaly coaching.... Stealers didnt lose through lack of ability they lost because they didnt have as many spectators..

Kellys are a prime example of how crowd participation over comes skill as they are yet to beat a French Team in the finals for 1st place but yet smash them in the prelims and Quaters were there is a smaller amount of spectators.

Dont get me wrong im not anti French, German etc but he who shouts wins on the CPL Field..... Roll on Campaign in the UK:D

I agree %100. Coaching and crowd interference has no place in paintball. It's completely against the nature of this game.

It was not the coaching having this effect. The reason no one went past the 2nd knuckle is because the guy in the bag could stand over the top and shoot u in the back or as u said the opposite guy. The corners werent far enough out to control the line properly either. It was all due to field design, not coaching.

With the ordinary 'zipper' style snake this isnt and issue and its much more playable, as it has been most other events. Just drop the corners and bends (Paris) and gaps (Bitburg) and its fine.

You only have the urge to yell out if (a) you like the team/player getting mugged or (b) you dislike the team/player doing the mugging. If you're just a neutral spectator, I think it's fun to see people get bunkered.

Any person who advocates coaching just doesn't understand the game of Paintball or what's important in the sporting ethos of Paintball..coaching has no more place in paintball than do designer cheater boards, it has to go..and fackin good riddance to it is what I say !

To argue that allowing sideline coachling helps our sport grow is like arguing furry dice hanging from your rear view mirror makes your car go faster !
