....and i would add that I totally agree with testing of all brands. As to who would do it, theres a tough one, as someone (independant of paintball?) would need to be paid for designing and implementing a testing process and this would need to be repeated regularly as formulae vary from batch to batch. Then, what would stop 'Company X' sending a batch for testing that doesn't contain a staining/stripping compound yet producing a batch that does? Most companies outside of paintball take complaints re their products seriously and are interested in improving their products. Why should that be different with paint manufacturers? I should have thought they would be more interested in taking on board players comments and improving their fill to minimise damage rather than blanking complaints with 'no not interested' or 'dont name my paint' . Why do we as ballers generally feel it necessary to vaguely talk around the subject rather than state facts and name names as we have experienced them? And when we do why aren't complaints taken seriously instead of the ensuing slanging match?

Gups - I meant that the 'source' of the info is always not identified:rolleyes: Sparklie also briefly banned some Draxxus too - until she was told that it doesn't stain.

MrDan - Yeah - my DYE pants were stained (slightly) pink form Toulouse, but I couldn't say which brand it was that did it as a lot of teams were shooting Pink out there:rolleyes:
And open your eyes - Guppy has mentioned Severe (coming from an RPS-sponsored player) in this Thread - and every single brand has been mentioned previously in other threads.

My point is NO TESTING WAS OR PROBABLY WILL BE DONE - Everyone just comes up with their own stories and it's all just heresay, rumours and kneejerk reactions.

P.s Disclaimers ain't worth a damn IMHO

Go for it! Fridays are generally boring anyway....;)

Obviously everyone stands up for their sponsor (tho i have been known to complain about a sponsors goods in the past) But what i was trying to say is that if we feel we have a genuine complaint about something and we take it on the day to the tourney organisers and then to the paint rep that day... why are we basically told to fk off? Thats the main gripe i have, that my complaint (when i was wearing the evidence and it was offered for examination) was it just ignored? In the end, although we may be sponsored by paint companies, we're still consumers and theyre still making a profit from us... so wtf are we slagging each others complaints off on here? Cos the money makers don't want to know, thats why.

Searching for the pro-tour....:S
Money makers don't want to know

Well the sad fact is that the money makers do not give a Flying Fcuk about the complaints of tourney players.

Lets face it, we demand the highest quality paint, want to pay little or nothing for it, complain like mad, and generate about 10 % (when coupled to walk-on players) of their european revenue.

Rental Punters, paying over the odds for utter $hite, now they matter, they pay for the expansive italian cars, the big houses and the private schools!!!

And lets not forgot that even the most esteemed of tourney ballers can act like complete premadonna's, and go into one for know apparent reason, or just to bad mouth another compainy's paint for some supposed slur.

Thats why the honest complaints are ignored, they get lost in all the random Bull$hit that infests our wonderful game!!

Then we must do as all good Capitalists (Sorry, Consumers;) ) do and phone WatchDog!!

Seriously tho - I don't know why the Paint Rep basically ignored you, but did you consider taking a step higher? I mean to his/her boss?

And we do need some form of testing - perhaps this is something the EPA could sort out as they are the closet thing we have to an independent body in paintball:confused:

Something definately needs to be done....

Had an instance when I played a tourney, can home and stashed my kit in the bag 'till the night before the next tourney (4 weeks).

When I removed my beloved Exo-X racgun cocker, the chrome plating was 'flaking' off the front bits where the paint had deposits!!!!!!

I had no idea I wasn't the only one with this trouble. Thought it was just some crappy chrome plating. I have been playing in this sport for nearly 14 years, they always had this trouble in the beggining but I never dreamed that this would still be happening.

It's all about the "hard to wipe" paint...

Which is the biggest pile of marketing crap ever. This staining "hard to wipe" paint just looks like an old hit when wiped, because all of your old hits are still there because they STAIN.

Paint needs to be thick, and it needs to dry a different consistency. That way new hits are hard to remove, and old hits don't look anything like new hits.

I offered to set up some testing :) did as much as I could on my own, but no-one was forthcoming. Basically, all of the pink paint I tested left stains, (one even stained fibreglass........ she shouldn't have parked near the "test area"). One even stained Dale.......which is bad, 'cos he gets hit a lot, and he looks camp enough without the pink stains.
Do what we do.......... "Can we have yellow instead please" worked a treat :) for god's sake, it's not a difficult problem to solve.
