My 2p's worth

bit late... but ive been working...
I'm female. I play ball. I dont see 'sexist' ads as an issue whatsoever. If i were the type of female to be offended by it i probably wouldn't have chosen to play a sport thats played 99% by men. Its been an interesting thread tho! :)

i do believe the 2 words people are looking for are subliminal messaging(although its illegal;) )

you see a pretty lady, you look at the page BAM, the imprint is stuck in your head, and without you knowing it may change your mind about wanting to buy some new pads or trouers or sumthing, i know women will never make me buy something exppensive(meaning those angel trousers, £90!!!  )

Mak, ill beat cha one day, cant make the seminar as ive just had an operation and out of paintball for a few months:( but ill be better than ever when im back:D :p

Thanks for the Welcome

Heh, I know it was a doozy of a post for my first one here; originally I had only intended to post my opinion and run for it ;)

Mak D- We'll meet in person one day, and when we do we'll discuss women in magazines and down a pint of the dark stuff. But first I'll have to get some game and make it onto a real team though

Beaker: Thanks for the help, site's pretty bush, eh? Someday I'll get smart and pretty her up :)

Right, I know this thread is getting on a bit, but I can't help but feel that the very point has been absconded something biblical. The point behind the Bambi article was to distance the paintball community from what can only be described as idiocy mixed with male hormones. The media saw hunting for Bambi and had a field day, because not only was it percieved as sexist, but it is also blatantly dangerous. There are SO many groups who would love to see paintball banned, and this allowed them to link it, and thus throw ammunition at paintball. The point of the article, like i said was to say "THIS IS NOT TOLERATED BY THE PAINTBALL COMMUNTIY", not "THIS SEXUAL INEQUALITY IS NOT TOLERATED BY THE PAINTBALL COMMUNITY". Paintball was banned in Scotland, until recently (Thus killing the sport dead) because of similar idiocy. PGI are, no offence, a LOT more focused on the safety of, and the implications to, the sport that Bambi has, rather than it's sexist nature, which i can't see being of paramount concern to the paintball community. Sexual Equality is something that can be debated until both party's lungs collapse (something proven by the fact there are 7 pages of replies). Now, look at the article in question later in the magazine.......how it can be percieved as hypocritical, or even, indeed, ironic, is beyond me. If you owned a paintball magazine and your clientel were predominantly male, it makes perfect sense to have articles which appeal to them. PGI and whatever other publications you can think of don't just pigeon-hole the readers and make assumptions, they KNOW what the readers want to see. Sexual "discrimination" comes from all ends of the spectrum, and it only seems to be an issue when it's raised. Personally, I'm desensitised to the whole thing after enduring 2 months of a 30ft CK banner of a pretty much naked guy hanging from a building in princess street (Where I live, Edinburgh.....Scotland). Personally, i think the REAL hypocracy lies in the hands of those who tell us men we are the only sex objectifying the opposite.
Right, well I hope I've done some good.......

Would love to chat, but i must save the world again...

PS, Aight, this aint aimed directly at u, and this aint a dig, its just a Fi$hy point i thought i'd articulate :D
