I don't see what the problem is - Sparklie now has a forum all to herself to talk about all things Sparklie... the mods have said what they want this forum to be - if you just want to chat and discuss pub meets, come on over to Sparklies! (see sig) :D:D:D

Nobody is forcing anybody to read what they don't want to, so I'm confused why there's a debate at all...

To answer why some peeps would like a place on a PB forum to chit-chat is because maybe some of us would like to socialize a little with the people who share this common interest. It's also fun to see what happens when PB folk get a chance to ventilate a bit of their wackiness in such threads as the one about French people.

Sometimes the socializing comes in some tidbits of threadjacking (which I think is totally o.k.) and sometimes in PMs and e-mails. But I think it would be fun to carry on a little longer without spoiling a good thread.

The socializing aspect could also lead to a less anonymous tourney scene wherewith we might get to know some of the people who attend the same tourneys. I know there are some people who I definitely want to see at the next international tourney and maybe have a pub visit with.

Dave, nobody's attacking you mate. You asked a fair question, and we tried answering. It's other people that try to keep debating.

People, it's simple. The powers that be have decided on the future of this forum, and that future is paintball. So on here we talk about paintball, be it in the tournament section or speak your brains, it's still paintball.
And yes, somebody telling the world that he or she has just had a baby might not be paintball related, but it's definitely a bigger deal than a bunch of people camping somewhere. That and because it happens once in a while is why we're willing to let things like that slide. We get way too many posts along the lines of "Johny farted in my tent at the slumber party", which are only relevant to the people who were there, and that's a very small group, and I'm willing to bet that most, if not all, know eachother pretty well, so these stories can also be shared by phone or down at the pub. The fact that most people involved happen to paintballers, doesn't make it a paintball thing. If a car full of paintballers crashed, it's still a carcrash, not a paintball crash.

most other forums have chit-chat forums.

example:pb nation, pbc, games forums etc...
Ive seen a lot of em have those kinda forums, and the amount of posts out-weigh ( a lot of the time) the talk about pball, games etc......

Is it due to the fact more bandwidth will be taken up and the admin are not prepared to shell out for the extra bandwidth needed?
To me thats a good excuse, but u can get more people involved more.
I think you need to re-think this coz to me it makes no sense.

yea sure it is a pball site, but you cant always go on about pball, sadly at times it can get tedious.

its good to have a break form it all aint it?
Besides it will stop gettin people pissed off when u delete the threads.
I think you do get annoyed when this happens?

Simple cure is to create a general discussion forum.
Sounds like ur forcing us to keep it pball only, ignoring the outter world events.

So if an entire team where wiped out on their way to a tourney, would we be able to talk about it? or because it's "just a car crash" then it's not allowed?

Cos I remember we had a thread about TJ being mugged in a carpark... :D:D:D
