Cheque is in the ......

Brutally honest much?

Robbo's right...as a lucky American who has lived abroad in England, I've seen both American tourneys and British ones. I've played at American fields and work at a British one (Campaign rules! Go play there NOW!) As it is, people in the U.S. have so many fields where they can play, and so many opportunities to do so. In the U.K., paintball is a once-a-year thing for many. Basically, this means a smaller pool of rec-players, which means fewer choices for teams, which means blah blah so on.
HOWEVER, I'm really pleased to see that the longer I work at Campaign, the more and more kids start asking where they can get kit (I really try to help them, because hey, more people playing=more targets. Er, I mean, players.) I think in a few years, the difference between U.S. and Brit teams will be much less noticable.
As for Nexus, they rule. Holy poop, they are going to be bigger than...cheese. Or something. I've only met Jamie Abbott and Truter, but they're powered by a gun that is clearly the greatest thing ever, not to mention that they're England's best team to date. I think that they will soon enough be a force to be reckoned with. I hope they gel well as a team, because it'd be great to see an English team up on the podium more often.

They are a good team, but maybe give them a bit longer to achieve what teams like Preds, NWC and the Turks achieved.;)

Hey I've turned over a new leaf since the dragged me kicking and screaming out of the woods.
See a little bit of sup-air and tourney play can make even the lowest scum an agreeable person.
Are you ready to get pulled out of the woods Rancid;)

Only jesting before you get me banned:D

C ya Bright and early Saturday Robbo. [time depending on if I can get my fat back players out of Mcdonalds:eek: ]

I dont expect to much but it will be chance to see how far behind we are and maybe win a game or two. i know you guys will be there but it would good to get a few brit teams out there to get a much experience as posible. the more top competion you play be better you get.

I have a funny feeling that I can get a group of the Sinners to play this event [there was talk of it at the weekend]. We know that we have to pay through the nose to play this event, what with travel costs accomodation game fees etc but the coverage for the team would be good.
You might have a problem with Uk teams going over there though due to such costs, look at Joymasters only two hours on a plane [£120 return] and still only 6 Uk teams entered. I know its close to campaign but how is the british paintball scene going to get on the map if its left to the same teams to represent the community as a whole.
Yes not everyone can afford to go to the big events, and they say that these teams that do travel away are sponsered up to the hilt to go there. But unless you get your team a name at these big events and the big manufacturers see your team there you are never going to pull in that big sponsership that everyone aspires to. After all what have they got to gain from giving money and discount to a team who plays the bumpkin cup in yokel land?
Also it boils down to playing level, many teams feel that they are not good enough to travel away as when they get there they will get their arses handed to them on a plate, so why pay hundreds of pounds for humiliation. If this is your team ask yourselves what are you doing about it? My betting is next to nothing, I know my team have fell guilty of this, training was a swear word and applied to the event before we are currently playing. But we are now a team who are looking to better ourselves. We have started training properly and have started playing more major events. [we have set ourselves the challenge of fielding a team in 3 millenium events this season] If your team cannot afford to play more events then recruit more players that gives you a bigger squad to play with and more chance of finding people who will have the cash to go abroad.
And when it comes to training [broken record time] how come more people haven't signed up for the Nexus event. You only have to see what they have done to Spg Spirit to realise what they can do to your teams game. I know I keep plugging this event but it is really important to the British paintball scene. If you can't get your team to go book in as a loner, you can then take what you have learnt to the rest of your team. Hey and its only £25 for the weekend, whats that in terms of what you will learn next to bugger all, and what else can you buy with £25 1/3 of a night out?

Get your arses in gear and book in theres still time. And no I'm not on commission I just see this as important in improving the way the Brits are seen by the rest of the world.

Well, here's my opinion. I kinda think that you guys are lucky you don't play 2-3 times a week every week, just because sometimes you get burnout, and paintball can become a job and not a game. Luckily that hasn't happened to me yet:D The ammount of fields really is amazing...I can think of at least 14 in the Los Angeles area alone, and there are probably 20 if you include San Diego area. Paint is really reasonable around here. You can get paint as cheap as $32 a case for seconds which is just about 20 pounds there. Good paint like evil is $60 a cas so that's just not quite 40 pounds in your currency. Then you throw in $20 for entry and air and you're set for the day. What's it cost like over there? Someday I'd like to move to the UK and I would hope I would be able to continue feeding my, ahem, addiction....:D
