See here in NY the smaller fields do alot for us,with us giving a little bit back in return..We played religiously at our local field for a year, made some friends and then approached the owner asking for just a small field sponsorship..Now with that included free entry, free air,and about $60 for a case of Diablo Blaze(it was $100 a case for feild paint..Now in return we ref some rec ball when they need some extra guys and wear a well placed patch showing where our allegiances are..Originally posted by manike
I just recently returned froma trip to New Jersey and one thing which suprised me was the number of fields that cater 'soley' for the wannabe tournament player. Or that do a lot for them.
Fields that aren't even bothered about rentals.
I was at one field where they just have teams turn up and play each other all weekend. It was like a mini tournament but much more relaxed and cheaper.
Also, most places around here offer BYOP 1 or 2 nights a week which makes it significantly cheaper if you can get a discount from your local store..If I head east from the city towards Long Island, theres about 6 different places I can play including 4 indoors during the winter,Survival NY which is about an hour heading upstate, and about 3 other places if I head to Jersey..With all the competition its not hard to see why local fields do plenty for the teams that play there..
Manike-You were just out at PBLI..How much were they charging you per case at the Big Game??And that field gives so much support for up and comers who ball every weekend at thier place even with only 1 small,****ty Hyperball feild and it shows in most cases..
I can go to my local store and with a slight discount pay $55-$60 for a case of RPS Evil...Not too tragic if you play once a week and play front or mid....How much do they charge out by you guys??Originally posted by QuackingPlums
so is paint SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper in the US than over here? Cos it's in danger of turning into one of those "only for the rich" sports here - I can't imagine many teams being able to afford that kind of thing several times a week!
