cheating out of control??

I have raised this after watching a certain team at the Severe cup, but I also acknowledge that even if you feel a hit, especially while on a mugging run, how can you be sure it burst.

We have all been hit multiple times sliding into a bunker only to find that none burst or that the one that did was on a flap of your trousers that you did not feel.

This is indeed a tough one, maybe the only way to control this would be like in soccer... happens once, get a warning for the whole team, happens twice get a small penalty, happens three times a larger penalty etc.,

The only way that would work was if the scorers were set up to receive and maintain a log of how many times a team was caught... hmmm "Willfully" playing on and reflect it on the scoreboard. This would then encourage the team to be more "aware" of their hits.

Do you thing Bully and Hatts will adopt this

As said by someone before (sorry, can't remember who wrote this), once the NXL started punishing obvious and unobvious hits with the same penalty, it's amazing the kind of hits the players suddenly were able to feel. They suddenly 'know' when thier hopper is hit or when they catch a few to the pack. Apparently back in the 10 man days they must not have been training hard enough to realize they were there. :)

And I WISH it was only happening when lots of money was on the line. I see people cheat even when you only get a trophy. It's pretty pathetic.

Heck, I see people cheating in practice. How sad is that? :(

As far as the reffing goes, stricter reffing reduces a lot of the playing on/cheating that happens. NPPL is a good example of this. Teams that tried to get away with the things they did in another national league (who shall remain nameless ;) ) found themselves getting 1-4-1'd at the NPPL. For the most part they either learned quickly or dealt with the penalties. While the reffing wasn't perfect (we can't all be Swedes), I think it was a huge improvement over past years.

Tracking penalties and such - I don't think that's going to happen and I don't think it's a great idea. Too hard to track and not appropriate for this sport. In soccer, the yellow/red cards all happen in the same game; in paintball, you're talking about one or two infractions across multiple games or even tournaments.

One other thing - some players will always try to get away with something, whether it's playing on with a hit or the surreptitious bunker rub. Part of the refs job is to catch it.

Well, I recently bought a video covering last seasons big tournaments, like Vegas Chicago etc... can't remeber what league but I was really put off by all the cheating. It got to the point where after watching the video once I put it aside and haven't watched it again. Usually I'll watch a video 5 or 6 times before getting bored (I know I'm a little desperate). Paintball isn't interesting with all the cheating. I can take some but blatant cheating ruins it all. Any body can wipe his hit on the bunker, doesn't take much skill.

I think we need alot more swedish style refs, that body check you Spikey Mikey Style when they see you playing on. Very impresssed by the reffing in Huntington finals!:D

If that was the 300 FPS video, they caught a couple of great wipers on there. :p The one at the end with the kid trying to wipe the hopper hit is both sad and hysterical at the same time.

No doubt. The one that just made me roll my eyes was the one dude (apparently Marcus Nielsen) who got hit in his stocking cap, so he just tried to roll the hat up over the hit. So blantant, I'm glad he still got caught for it.
