I guess this is what they mean by smiling inanley whilst being shafted :( .

Campaign was killer! even better than last year and probably a touch better than Toulouse, they did a really good job, and I can't wait for next year, but this post is about the registration / card rip off and not about Campaign itself.
And c'mon, nobody can seriously tell me that this whole card thing wasn't a pocket filler! I seem to remember reading that one of the promoters even admitted it to Robbo that they just wanted to make some extra cash.
A pass like that only costs a dribble of what they're charging, and if they would use them for extra security like so many players have posted in the past, they would at least be worth it, put they are only used to monitor player movement.
As for the cost of the re-issue rip off, you don't even get a new card, as they have your details in their PC, they have your picture and details in front of them, they confirm it's you and make a quick tenner!
I doubt that any players would deliberately forget to bring their cards If they wouldn't charge the £10, and how come we get fined £10 for forgetting it and the promoters don't get **** all for not even sending the cards out month after the event some players registered at?

Millenium Series I.D cards...

The point still stands that i could have quite simply turned up and played for my team without buying a card. Correct? This one fact makes the cards a waste of money.

The cards were of no more use than last years free passes, actually they were of less use.

And what exactly do the organisers need this extra revenue for? it certainly wasnt to make the event better for the players. The idea of this event aswell as to raise the profile of the sport was to make a profit. Its a profit making organisation, and the more money spinning ideas they can come up with the better, i.e as jj said, why charge pros and ams more than novs for the cards, they cost the same to make i assume, so theres some blatant money making going on there.

other than this and a few other things which will never change until the industry becomes interested in pleasing the player rather than themselves, it was a fantastic event and had been improved from last year.

You just aren't listening are you.........

I resent the fact you are all implying that Campaign used the I.D cards to make " a quick tenner"!!! After everything that Niall and his many helpers have done for World paintball, you have the audacity to turn round and call us what can only be described as robbing *******s!!!!!!!

You have no idea what it takes to run a European Series. Campaign received no revenue whatsoever from the registration cards.

The MILLENNIUM SERIES!!!!!!!!.......needs money to do what they do.

I'll tell you what. At the next meeting of the Millenium Committee, I will ask them to ditch the whole card system. We will then sit around for a while trying to decide the best way of increasing the money raised by the Series. The conclusion we will come to will be to increase the entry fees.

Brilliant!!!!!!

You really don't know how lucky you are. The Millennium kicks the arse out of the NPPL, so much so, that they might be called upon to save it. You are able to compete with the best teams in the world and attend the best organised tournaments in the world.

Get a life.

Having just returned from what "I" think was the best run torny i have ever been to, on a scale i have never seen before (this was the first time i have been to Campain my team played last year while i was on holiday) and told me all about it how the security was based around the ID card system, i must admit this was not what i found over the weekend. I must agree with the rest i had spoken to all weekend that i had been ripped off for £13-50, having just read all the posts on the subject i still believe i have been ripped off, if the card had been issued on the first day i think it would have been a bit easier to swollow. But to be told that i would not get it untill i had finished playing i found abit funny, and then to be told i could not us it again next year as this was the last event then i WAS being ripped off. Why can't the card run for 12 months from the date of purchase, and as for us JUST PLAYING OUR LOCAL LEG. 80 odd novice teams playing most of which are just grass root paintballers, who ONLY play their local leg just as well i think we paid about half of the money paid to the torny, why not include this fee into the entry fee it would sure cut out all this fuss.
GOD this took some typing with one finger
Sorry but i was ripped off!!!

TORNY=:D :D :D :D

ID CARDS=   :

E-mail me at camille@nppl.info so I may reply and bash you in privacy as opposed to on this forum.
Camille- Thanks for keeping that personal. We try to keep the boards clean and fun and I appreciate you doing your part to keep it that way.

Jeff- There is obviously some hostility coming from you towards the players. Maybe if you totally explain the player card concept and how it is supposed to work, these guys will stop flaming the idea. Just a thought.

mmmmmm.......sorry

I am not a member of the Millenium board.

I am just annoyed at the fact that Campaign Paintball is being acused of ripping people off.

I did explain the concept of the cards earlier on in the thread.

I suggested a bar code system on the cards when the idea first came about but alas, as I am just an individual and not connacted with the Millenium no one listened.

We are all fighting for the same thing, which is constant innovation and improvement within the sport.

My only real regret with what I posted is that Camille is gonna kick my ass big style when I see her again!!!!!!

As for the NPPL thing. I apologise to all involved. I was just tired and ratty.

Jeff- Thanks for the response bro. From what I have gathered from fellow paintballers on this board, is that it seems they are not pissed about the I.D. cards as a whole, but pissed that they weren't even used at all (by the player-ie.. Used for access into the staging area, checked on the field to make sure no one had swapped teams etc...) and they weren't issued until after the tourney. I am sure Niall, yourself, and the rest of the crew will tackle this and fix it for the 2003 season. You guys put on an awesome tournament and I am sure you will continue to be the elite in tournament paintball.;)
