LOL :)

I did cover Storage and Transportation (although they are total guess figures.)

I didn't cover Hotels, but thats going to be easy to work out. Just need to know the Hotel (Holiday Inn Im guessing as that was the block booking one) and how many people elected to spoon and how many wanted their own room. I spooned at the Premier Inn with my guys as the Holiday Inn had sold out....well actually I didn't I slept on the uncomfortable couch. So thats £54 a room a night for two people. Plus there's food in the evening....does the Millennium pay for that or do they expect everyone to pay their own ?? 4 of us spent £100 in the Premier Inn's Beefeater restaurant Saturday night. (£85 on food, £15 tip to the waitress to apologise on behalf of European ballers for the foreign gold banded team that the waitresses felt were rude and arrogant.)

Hpac....err no idea on that. But if they want next year Hpac can't take the year off and I'll blow air in to everyone's bottles :D

Piper's cut.....crikey there'd be nothing left after that ;)

Again, its all really rough figures, and a lot of it will get bunged in under sundry costs. But there still has to be a sizeable amount left over to play with, be it for development, board directors "wages", etc, etc. I honestly can't believe that they would cut close to breaking even. Its not good business sense, and Im pretty sure we'd hear them telling us thats whats going on and we'd likely see a rise in costs at our end (i.e. higher entry fee's, ID fee's, etc) Which means they have some wriggle room with charges/costs which they can use for our benefit....which ultimately benefits them.

:D
so you are pretty much saying you are guessing on almost everything which I guess makes it pretty pointless.

Well if it works for Banks, Politicians, Statisticians, Mechanics, and many many more......then it must work for us as well ;)

Actually the figures are derived from known similar examples. Except they have to be increased in amount quite a lot due to the difference in size of scope.

Absolutely Buddha, wouldn't assume it was a cash cow, and Im having to make some pretty big assumptions on costs. In fact I'd assume that some of those costs are higher meaning less cash available for all involved afterwards. (Although I'd disagree on the 20k/12k in hand figure as if they have any sense they'll have accountants working their magic to pay the taxman less.......I do hehe) :)

The point is that even after all of that, there is still (assuming the figures are even remotely close to realistic) room for them to make some minor sacrifices in some area's for the greater good to entice more trade in, and make the customers happier. Happy customers are regular customers. Customers who feel they are getting their moneys worth will come back again. More happy customers mens more teams playing, which means more money going back to the Millennium.

They could also (and I know many disagree with it) charge a minor entry fee for non-participants. £1, or maybe £2 per person. Thus they recoup the money they lose from making cuts elsewhere so as to improve the events.
Wasn't aimed directly at you Echo, (though I understand it easily seems that way). It was more meant to make people realise that turnover minus costs doesn't equal money in a wallet. Some people fail to grasp that.

As far as your point of happy customers go, that's a given. But I'm afraid that with the amount of money the series draws in right now, there really isn't that much room to splurge on bells and whistles. :(

PS I saw Piper with the pile of burgers as well. And the bag of donuts. None of them made it to the tradestand he was working, despite him claiming it was for his colleagues. Plus I've seen him eat at the restaurant. Normal people eat octopus rings. He ate an octupus. A pregnant one. As a starter.

I had a great time on Saturday, the venue was killer, and I thought the food was extremely well priced, with a great selection. Everyone was super friendly & helpful, and whenever I had a question for the staff they were knowledgeable and told me exactly where to find everything. There were plenty of hot chicks, and the toilets were clean and tidy (even had electric hand-dryers). I know the organisation make a ton of money and it doesn't bother me because they offer such a great product for the money.

Then again, I was at my local supermarket, and it's always like that.

I think the question here is:-

If you don't like it, what are you going to do about it?

At the moment, there is no other European series that offers the standard of play that the Mill series does.

So, the solution is to do what WDP did a few years ago with Pure Promotions. They were not happy with the standard of event being put on, so they did their own thing.

This in turn meant the PSP had to raise their own bar.

But starting a whole new series right now has two major problems - no cash about, but plenty of apathy.

As for reffing, the head CPL Ref - Jabba - is one of the good guys. I personally have never had a problem with Ulrich.

Food? Well, site food has never changed in all my time in paintball. It falls into three categories:-

1. Gash;
2. Expensive;
3. Both of the above.

Take your own - or start attending paintball events with a catering van selling decent food at reasonable prices. You'll make a bomb.

So to take your example to the extreme of having making money as the main goal of the business. Banker A says to Banker B , "Do you fancy making a new kind of trade, unfortunately it is selling debt so there could be some risk involved? "
Banker B says. "There might be risk but think of how much money we could make!!!!!! So lets not bother with the research as that means less time making money."

Several billion dollars traded later................. Whoops......... Looks like we created a recession........Lost my job....... bankrupted my old company
This made me laugh, alot. The selling of debt predates CDO's and the use of Cayman Island bankruptcy remote SPVs as a debtwrapper for hooky US mortgages (I could go on but I won't). Ever heard of a Gilt or War Loan? Anyway, if you are going to come on here spouting business advice to the Millennium, you really need better examples. Or try stopping those goat hearts first.

Anyway, enough of this and some of the fantasy numbers being banded about; the GCSE economic lessons people are dishing out are irrelevent in the real world nor applicable to SMEs.

More to follow.

I shall continue (now I've got rid of the mother in law).

There are many things the Millennium could and maybe should do better, but I don't see fag packet economics as being a valid beating stick. The Millennium should pay more attention to customer value perception, and perhaps as the only "European" game in town has led to a degree of complacency / lack of attention to detail (i.e. regulating the food vendors). However, if peoples gripes are location, services and proximity to major population centres; oh and better / more refs then you need to expect a major hike in entrance fee's. Of course this unpopular; hey, even I moan when I don't get served Beluga at the annual offshore power boating superseries in Poole but I digress.

Unfortunately, until Paintball decides what it is / wants to be, you are going to have these issues. Inconsistent or harsh reffing (Ulrich) sucks if you play for sh*ts and giggles but needed at the higher levels. And as the biggst gripe has been about burgers, hot dogs and Ice Cream I might question the sporting prowess of some of the paintball "athletes" in attendence. People are demanding sporting quality events, but moan when you get the opposite. It sounds to me like both the organisors and players need to decide what they want

Perhaps we should go back to the days of the Mayhem masters. You can all play for sh*ts and giggles in the woods, pay a hundred quid a case and Piper and me will cook you all a fillet steak sandwich topped with stilton for £5.50.

The man speaks the truth.

Well, he might, but it's off thread as the Fed has nothing to do with Campaign. If he does it again, he can take a holiday in the 20ft steel contanier listening to a CD full of "Barney the Dinosaur" songs at 120dbs.

This isn't a criticism of the Fed event, just not relevent on this thread.
