What's the point?

No beer at Orlando... I am quite distraught :(
It's only no beer in the cow pasture. 5 minutes away are nearly innumerable places where ya can drink all ya like (more or less ;) ).
Nor is it really anyone making some moral judgement--just the queasy insurance company having ugly thoughts about "guns" and booze and the possible ramifications.

Only 5 minutes you say... I suppose that's not too far :)

Insurance companies = Paranoia incarnate

i agree with Glory kid on the fact that there will be families there, and sum paintball junkie staggerin around wavin his marker here and there won t look good at all!

however i think it s all down to personal responsibility, all the players there will be representing the paintball community to the watching eye of the public, surely all that is required is a bit of COMMON SENSE!!!!!!!!
or a quick word to those involved in the event, that no-one wants to see anybody makin a bad impression on the public, due to excessive drinking!

if u cant handle drink then..............don t drink it!

i think most of those involved in the event will have the sense to realise that if they ve had 1 to many then its time to hit the soft drinks, and not to keep going and make a fool of themselves, their team and the whole paintball community overall.

Its wasn't drunken marker toting people that was the problem, it was drunken DRIVING people, some who definately should have known better ;). But better to be safer than....

Don't worry 5 mins isn't too far to miss the beer (if you can call it that :D)

Personally Banning Alchol, for those pepole who r not going to step onto the field is bad.

But the problem is there is always a few mindless idiots no matter where u go.

Trying to control something like Alchol i.e trying to limit the amount anybody drinks on site. Is well quite frankley never going to happern.

So i say ban it, before the mindless few spoil it for the rest of us.

Especillay if its going to be a headache i mean organising the world cup is got to be a big enougth headache on it own.

Buddha, yeah, probably because you won't be there. As for the rest of us, the idea itself is insulting to say the least. What it attempts to accomplish may be a somewhat worthy goal, that is, to promote safety and decorum. The logic behind it, however, is pathetically narrow and unfortunately commonplace of the rest of society which paintball usually provides relief from. In short, it's saying that we can't drink responsibly and are drunken low class jackasses, so we should have a leash around us to keep us out of trouble. Rather than acknowledge that we're human beings, and that there are always a few people who just need to be dealt with on an individual basis BECAUSE THEY, NOT THE DRINK THEY WERE HOLDING did something wrong, whoever responsible for this idea decided the best thing to do is to look down their noses at everyone and assume them to be peabrained irresponsible morons and treat them as such.

And to the "we don't want the kids to see that" people, it's you that need to grow up. Withholding reality is like putting a hand up against a seawall in the middle of a hurricane: yeah, you'll maybe hold a cup or two of water back for a little while, but it just makes it gush harder when it breaks and you'll look like a moron for trying.
