People will push the rules. That's a given. We ALL know that people will do all they can. Unless there are rules in place to coax them to do the right thing. As much as it pisses me off to get torched going into a dead box, I also know that I have no recourse to stop people NOR do I have any leg to stand on.
I was told once my a pro 'baller that part of his job on the field was to piss you off so much, you wanted to retire from paintball. He would intentionally shoot to injure, overshoot, and do everything in his power to make you want to leave paintball, and never play his team again. I remember that little snippet when a team wipes a hit from me or overshoots my guys. (And it happened at Skyball. 3 teams out of 8 BLANTLY WIPED against us. One team got caught, and one other guy caught a ball in the staging area from somewhere, still unsure where...)
Oh, and Abba : That's an intresting question. I know that in Hockey, several players have been ARRESTED for aggrivated assault for an on-ice incident. I know one high school coach was arrested becasue he told his players to give one particular opponent the "Special treatment" that landed the kid in the hospital paralised from teh waist down.
The waivers cover the FIELD from prosecution from your injury. If a player attempts to injure you, the waivers do nothing to protect THEM. It's been asked if you light up a 15 year old kid, could you be arrested for assault on a minor? SO FAR, nobody has challenged it. SO FAR, we've accepted "Bonus balls" as a part of the game. I'm waiting for some mom to see her little boy come home black and blue, and taking players to court. It's a matter of time, unless rules are put into place to encourage people to not to do it.
