not trying to start an argument here but hip hop is the more recent of the 2 break dance and electro was all big around 88 through 93 which is the time that the tunes you talk of came out and about.... also you will find that most of the samples you hear now in dance music came from the old skool electro and original house tracks

breakin is one of the 4 elements that make up hip hop,hip hop was around before 88 and the term breakin comes from the part of the record know as the break,the founder of hip hop kool herc used to loop the break into a continious loop for the b boys to dance to(hence the word breakin) and if it wherent for hip hop no of these dance acts would be around today i could go on for ever giving you lot a lesson in this i have been into it since it started hip hop is not just music its a culture and way of life
