Baseless Cheating Accusations

Hey J

Where'd you get the cool picture of Chunk from the movie "Goonies" playin' pball? Isn't that the same gear the Bandits wear? :p

And to the topic--since the same old canards keep getting tossed at the RL doesn't it go to reason that there are some doing the tossin' who actually believe it?
No, I'm not suggesting it's then true I'm wondering what it is that makes such an outlandish notion plausible to some?

Scrofula?

Maybe they need my touch to cure 'em...

Or could be good old fashioned arrogance - 'they've only been playing for five minutes, Goddam bunch o' commie nobodies. There's no way they could be as good as us, they MUST be cheating...'

I thought part of Mr Marshall's cheating rationale was particularly special...to paraphrase 'They beat us playing one way, and we played them again they decided to change their tactics and beat us again, which was very suspicious.'

Like duh!

Hold Up A Sec

I think we have to let Mr.Marshall go on this one..My mag has the words by an Ironman and its not him..Its non other than one Micah McGlocklin..Sorry to rain on anyones parade:D

But the worst part of the whole article is after all the cheating accusations are made he then tries to kiss thier asses by saying "how good of a team they are,and probably the best in Europe"...

Which one is it Mr.McGlocklin???Biggest cheats or best team in Europe...Hmmmmm

This isnt the first pro team to pull some wacky theory out of the magic hat when RL puts a beating on them!!
It seems that when the King is about to be tossed off the throne they resort to anything to turn a blind eye to the real problems at hand..

And with all the accusations flying around now, the real thing that bothers me is whats gonna happen when RL get thats elusive first place??

Element still missing

RL do everything one can train for exceptionally well--at least from what I've seen--but they are deficient in a particular pball skill and while they may eventually win their share they won't do it consistently.
And no I won't offer a more comprehensive explanation unless PGI begs for it.

Headrock - my post is amended, Matt's a top dude and I wish him no ill :)

As for Legion - the one skill they lack is the connections - those little favours that go round to oil the wheels of paintball. They do everything on their own. And it's no conspiracy theory, any industry as close as pball is has them - these things happen in real life.

In terms of playing skill they don't (all) have the natural talent that let's the Ollie's of this world play llike they do. They grind results from technical skill, that flash of insipration to pull out a win is laking. However, some of the young guys they are debuting could just be the ticket.

Yep, Ive spoken to Matt before and he is top notch and as TJ said hes a great writer and i believe alot of his articles are second to none:cool:

And we have a team like that here in the States..BL Ironmen seem to have all the pieces in place but lack the drive(or heart as we refer to it)to take that first place win in 10 man..It seem like when they make it to the finals(which is on a regular basis)they seem to become very timid and play not to lose :(

Maybe RL wont ever pull off being a consistant 1st place winner but its time some Pro players get off this cheating thing...My little brother looks up to them(hes 13)and when i have to explain why someone would accuse them of cheating with no proof sometimes im at a loss of words..Ive promised to take him to a Millenium in 2003 to see his team of choice so now i have to see what the best vacation spot is where they're having a tourney this year..Any suggestions??I was thinking England or France..Not sure if i want him roaming the streets of Amsterdam with me :p

Headrock - I get ya'. However, I've only seen Bob's play at Mills and they don't seem to have much of a problem here! But I know the playing not to lose thing rather than playing to win - can't be scared of winning.

I would have to say go to Toulouse first for the best tournament "package", with Sweden and London equal second - Sweden for the city, London for the venue itself.

But if you can come without the family Amsterdam is worth a visit :D

And getting back to the topic of RL, they don't have that drive and passion by nature, they are quite "stereotypical" of how you could see Russians play - very methodical and don't get too excited over anything (on the outside at least!)

They seem to have Toulouse down to a tee.But the NPPL finals always seems to be one disaster after another with them..They should have won LA this year but the Dynasty boys had something to say about it:D

And ill be attending the Mill. with my fiance and little bro so Amsterdam is out barring a miracle :p Plus shes got family in London so that might be my logical choice..We'll see

I was hoping to get my team together for one but no one seems financially ready to make the committment just yet...Looks like spectating 4 a little while 4 me
