The fields at Campaign were excellent this year, but what I noticed the most was how cool Astroturf was to play on. The surface encouraged slides, and was also fast and responsive to play on. Did anyone else think it was excellent? I am ashamed to say it, but I prefered to play on the Astroturf than on the grass  (This may just be because the fields on the Astroturf at Campaign were better than those on the grass in my opinion)

What are your views on Astroturf?
Would you play a tourney that was entirely on Astroturf?

Astroturf is not bad. Although I will always be a sucker for a well groomed lawn. A well cared for soccer pitch, with water drainage (like the ones we have in Holland) will always be my top choice, but astroturf comes a close second.
No matter what criticism was cast at the Amsterdam tourney, the fields were great! Despite the rains, the fields did not flood, thanks to the drainage, and it made for some superslides!

Astro-turf...

I liked the Astroturf very well - Allthough I slipped on it once because of a lot of paint on the ground :(

I did use boots for soccer, but they did their job on Astro as well - just not with a lot of paint on the ground...

The astro turf was good, but

there was always a lot of paint on the fields and as it is quite a hard surface it tended to break if you slid on it.

also the amount of people I know with burnt out knees on their playing trousers is unreal.

For these reasons I will always prefer a nice level grass surface, like the cricket pitch we played on at Marchwiel.

It was the second time a tournament was held there (shoot the rainbow by the midlands masters guys), all that needed to be done was fill in the holes where the poles for netting went and tend to the grass where people slid in hard, the paintballs adsorb water and pretty much look after themselves, they said there was more damage after a cricket match !

My opinion, Horrible. Well, that's the opinion of my skid-knees after their second Campaign Cup (I actually burned a tiny whole in them this year :( )

Too painful if you fall, gimme a nice flat (ie no rabbit holes) grass surface - anyone thought of hosting a tourney on a bolwing green yet? ;) :D
