Agreed completely. But obviously the reason we weren't part of that 'In Crowd' was cos we don't play regularly with the clique's in the USA :) So it's cos we are Euro's. There are other reasons for it also, I don't think it's just an anti Euro thing (although it has been sometimes.)

The fact that you point out it also happens with in the USA and that there is regional etc. biases just makes it even worse and my point about the bad USA judging all the clearer.

You miss tha point Simon

A: You're a Euro, many people will say one thing to one person and one to another if it suits their ends. Maybe they think the last thing a Euro wants to hear is 'Euro reffing sucks', but they will tell people back at home they were cheated, oui?

B: You're covering tha event for tha press; big sponsored teams look very, very dumb when they are seen bitching in tha press about judging. It does them and their sponsors no good, which is why you see less of it now, even though certain people are fuming inside.

I'm not doubting that these things have been said to you, I'm saying that in certain instances tha opposite will have been said at home...And vice versa by Euro teams. When you're at tha end of a tournament and having beers in tha bar with your hosts, you might not feel like kicking off about how tha refs screwed you, yet when you get home it's tha first thing you talk about.

We've all been guilty of it I'd bet...

Fair enough...

Strange thing is, in the bar at WC The Euro's and the USA players were all happy to bitch about the reffing.

I think if people are unhappy about the reffing they are usually open about it, or use it as an excuse as to why they didn't perform... no baller ever wants to admit that they were just crap :)

Depends on circumstances I guess, but I know that alot of players trot out a party line to journos that is totally different to what is said amongst friends.

Personally, I have played in several foreign countries and been royally dicked over by judges, but kept my mouth shut because of sponsors, tha team's rep, international relations and so on, but have bitched about it at home. And I do tha same thing at home for tha same reasons. Doesn't mean I ain't pissed!

The help Phil is refering as the TonTon is Laurent and 2 employees at Adrenalin that doesnt play for Ton Ton.
The Ton Ton team came in late wednsday when all fields was up.
And Laurent made sure all the time that he wasnt interffering with any bunker positions.

About the barfeet Frenchy. I´was at the captains meeting and I know what they said about it. In the game Bushwackers against TonTon we all of a sudden saw a barefeet french player came running at the big A at the Angel field. He got a 1 for 1!!!
Noone saw him barefoot before that game and noone reported it to the reffs. Dont think any of the French was at the captains meeting and they payed for it. End of story..

About the ton Ton, sure alot of teams is missing BUT they beated
Avalanche, Bushwackers, Naughty Dogs, Dynasty ( 1 game) and alot of other high class teams. that could be enought for making the finals in any event.
Baco I tell it like it have been in the states, The wannabe pro players suck up to the big pro teams when they reff them and any Euro team that play them will be F**Cked up.
The thing is that they are not even embarressed about it!
The Pro teams is scared of what the other teams is going to do with them when the reff dutys is reversed, so a Euroteam will get all the ****ty calls. Its a fact and anyone who denies it dont know what they are talking about.

A team like Fat ladys Charms. a all girl team that play 100 % fair and are only in this game for the love of the game is treated like **** when they was reffed in the states. When they came home some of them didnt want to play paintball anymore and all them said that they will never go to the states again?!?!
Actuelly when I was in Huntington 2 different americans came up to me and started to talk about FL Charms. they both said that they feelt bad about how the girls was treated at the WC.

Now this is a girl team only there for having fun and isnt really a threat. But still they get cheated.

Baco denial isnt going to help the US scene. You guys need to understand that it is a problem and work against it.
A big responsibilty is also on the big magazines, write it like you see it and dont let people get away with it anymore.
Beacuse if we dont reconize we gonna have the same old **** 10 more year.

PS this goes for some Eurpean countrys also!

1--Only going by what Phil said and have no problem accepting your clarification.
2--that wasn't the only game.
3--not disagreeing with you about reffing--only that you seem to think it's a unique Euro's get the dirty end problem. Same things have happened to lots of US teams for same reasons.
4--don't want to take dig at the FLC but I played them at WC and watched two of their other games to see how they played. And what they said on returning home and how you characterize their treatment simply demonstrates a far more universal perception that almost everyone walks away from a badly reff'ed event feeling like.
5--I'm not denying anything, Mag, when it comes to poor to incompetent reffing. I've made a nuisance of myself repeatedly--ask Lane. :) My only point was that Euros weren't picked for lousy treatment because they were Euros--only because--like most of the other teams regardless of their home countries--they weren't part of the "club." In every other respect I agree with you completely.

All the top USA teams I talk to, GZ, Dynasty, Avalanche, Redz, etc. all say they love playing here and one of the reasons is the better reffing

Manike,
I agree with your statement here. Dynasty absolutely loves to attend the Millennium events. The attitude posed by all the Marshalls is so positive. They truly believe that they are there to make a difference. I don't know how many times you see refs
like Mikey from Hardcore running all over the field pulling armbands and getting people off the field as fast as he can.
Its an awesome site. I wish I could get my guys to do the same job. We truly believe that we can beat any team in the millennium series most of the time becuse of the heads up reffing.
If we could of had Millennium refs at the world cup we would have won that event too I believe.
I think that the way the Swedes ref is outstanding. Teams need to be treated tuff at the beginning of any event; otherwise the event will get out of hand. We had a 1-4-1 pulled on us at HB I don't know if it was the right call but we will live with it; We made sure that everyone was aware of how strick the refs were and had no more problems the entire weekend.

Tonton have already made the finals in nppl before, they won the 5 man in Vegas in 1999 but there was no bignames.
They made the finals too in dallas, this time it was in 10 man with all the big names( the three others were Avalanche, SC Ironmen and Lockout).
Even with an american marshalling... But it was some times ago I agree.
