We thought the old one was stale and we wanted a change - if after you all see the inside you still think the old one is better than I will eat Tyger's deer costume.
IMHO you better get your knife and fork ready :(

Mine turned up this morning, so I can comment on both inside and outside.

I actually like the new cover know I've seen it in the flesh. The top bar will make it stand out on the shelves, probably a good idea.

But the inside!!?? :(

Snowythehobo says its crowded, thats an understatment!

The change to a smaller type face just makes everything look squeezed onto a page. The font is also not a good choice.

The clashing colours, the boxes used all over the place, a snide layout for Robbo's page (I cant believe he likes it), I could go on!

The actual content is, as ever, good but the layout looks like a bunch of students put it together for rag week. Cheap and lazy.

You changed the cover, I presume, to attract more non-paintball readers/players just to get them to pick up the mag in store then flick through it, decide they like what they see, buy it and hopefully go on to play the sport. With the layout you have now got, all they are going to do is put it straight back on the shelf and walk away with an opinion that its 'a hobby/pastime' because the layout just looks so amatuerish, something only people on a shoestring budget can achieve. This is not the case.

I think you should of changed the cover but kept the inside layout. Your not the only the magazine on the market and to lose your way now, with Paintball becoming more mainstream, could well jeopardise your continued exsistence. :(

Sort it and quick!

Blimey, how rude can you get. You know, I would never dream of trying to offend someone liek that. I think it's great to have opinions, but a real **** to be opinionated. Mikey, you are clearly a very good magazine designer - I guess from your knowledge of words such as 'font' you've probably worked at some of the larger publishing houses in the country. But we've just got to make do with a design studio that delivers 30 magazines a month year in year out, whilst you obviously do, what , just the one, two three?

'Cheap and Lazy'? C'mon, do you really mean that? or do you just not like it? Cos that kind of insult is bound to upset people.

OK Ill expand on the Cheap and Lazy, it looks cheap and lazy because putting different coloured boxes on a page dont take a hell of lot of designer know how.

My opinions are just that, my opinion and not meant to upset any one. Im sure the guys at PGI have broad enough shoulders to cope. And I'm only the first to complain, if Im the one and only then right me off as a crackpot. If, however, other people have the same opinion as me then their must be something to this opinion.

And Rancid, opinions are like rsoles, every ones got one, including you ;)
