I would like to voice my opinion regarding the new look, I'm going to preface this by saying that I will try to be constructive about this.

......................................................

Sorry for the length of the post, I just got tired of the peons saying they didn't like it and not explaining why.
I am one of these people who went for the shorter version of Red_Merkin's post, but I agree with every thing he said, just didnt have the time to do such an in depth critique. So now that makes me Cheap and Lazy :D (see original post for ironic refrence :) )

Have been into my local WH Smith's today and the new cover is just like Ronseal..............does what it says :)

'Paintball magazine, pick me up, buy me!'

however it seems the new title bar is obviously in vogue because they had PGI next to the fishing magazines and 2 Carp magazines had the same style, title on white bar. But I didnt have a problem with the cover. :D

While we are talking about WH Smiths magazines display, cant you have aword with your distributers about PGI's placment on the shelves, its always near the shooting magazines. Isnt it time we moved to Mountain Bike/Skate/Extreme Sport section? Just a little side issue.

I use the front cover so I can find it in the newsagents, 'cos I'm buying it anyway. There ya go.
Everyone who's criticised will buy it anyway, no matter what's on the front.
Newbies will spot "paintball" far easier than before and pick it up........ it looks more accessible to the masses now.
And was any of this worth getting nasty over?
Honestly, you'd think PGI had changed the bible. (Could do with an edit in my opinion.....herod...."how shall we find the son of god?".."obvious pharoah mate, he's the only white kid born on this continent")
But anyway, If it stands out on the shelves, it's gotta be a good thing, mebbe the next skater/miniKorn will look to his right and leave "extreme dirt skate mosh pit" on the shelf when he's shopping for something to carry around in his giant trousers and look "cool" (they obviously don't read them).
You can't beat black and white for impact and it's nice and clear, as for those saying it looks grainy on here.....it will do, this is what we call the "internet" and it can't do the print quality of PGI justice.

Jeez Mikey. If only we could. We've been trying this since year dot. We've even paid for merchandisers to go into the shops and, with the manager's approval, move the copies to the area you suggest - you know away from Gun Mart (no offence to Gun Mart cos it's one of ours). We co-ordinated this with a tele marketing thing to retail outlets, a mail shot and ads in CTN (newsagents mag). Guess what? Next month they're back next to the rat killing mags. You know, how hard can it be?

Colin, that was some bleedin opus mate. I think the points you make are very strong, and I think you're probably right in anticipating some of the style morphing - I guess it's like changing shoes. The old comfy ones are letting in water, so you get a nice new shiny pair but they're a bit awkward for the first few weeks. Eventually they mould to your feet.

And by the way, the designers used Magenta cos we've got a whole gallon of it left from one of our Crafts mags! (There was a buy two get one free promo on we couldn't ignore.)
